Outpost: Sempron 2800+ and ECS MB $79.99+shipping

You can get the 79.99 offer in the store. Unfortunately we have a Fry's here in Ga, so after I drove way hella far to get to it, to get the 3100 combo, and the guy said we dont honor the outpost offers, he said the store had the 2800+ offer for the 79. So i got that one, so that I didnt come back empty handed on my voyage. So i just paid tax and spent the shipping amoun in gas thans to my POS truck. I am kinda dissappointed in Fry's. The store is MASSIVE, omg, it was massive, but that sux, and no way to tell if not sold in store or not. Probably gonna get the 3100 combo too, and pay the shipping and the tax, since they opened one up here. I called the cust serv, and they sucked. I swear the dude just woke up after I was on hold for like 7 minutes.

did you get a 64bit sempron in that bundle? ive read that some of the marked 32bit ones are in reality 64bit. also it is sad that frys is so large yet they lack in the internet department. no buy online pickup instore option, etc.

I've found these bundles to make AWESOME folding rigs. Not necessary the AMD flavor though as they don't put out as good PPD as Intel rigs.

My only gripe with ECS boards... They allow a great overclock considering their price... but the OC is usually limited to the HTT/FSB. Basically, the chipsets never allow you to give them enough voltage to go further. On 3 of the ECS boards I've bought recently, I've been limited by the chipset voltage every time. Plenty of Vcore... just not enough voltage for the chipsets...

Now if I could find Vmods for ECS boads, that'd be nice..... haha, who am I kidding. No one Vmods ECS boards. :)

Now I see that after I ordered the 2800+.

This is gonna end up as a spare gaming comp for friends or my moms comp depending on if this ends up being faster than the 2600+ I have now though so I'm not gonna be using it either way.

Any of you guys have one of these combos all ready? What core and overclocks can I expect with it?

I think Semprons were moving to 64bit. I bought one from Ebay about 2 months ago and it was 64bit.

I really don't know about Frys. I just though that AMD was migrating away from 32bit only CPUs. Even the Sempron line.

Don't expect much. 250HTT is probably just about it. ECS allows OCing.. but only to an extent.

well, if im understanding correctly, all new semprons are 64bit...however frys still sells 32bit socket 754 semprons, and thats what the 2800+ bundle comes with... but, ive heard that amd is shipping 64bit semprons in the 32bit boxes now. i havent rolled the dice on it yet, but id say its a good chance you get a newer 64bit one.

I ordered the 3100+ about two weeks ago. Overclocked to 2.25 Ghz which was the limit in the bios. If I remember correctly it was a 64 bit Sempron but I'm no positive on that. I can check later tonight. I bought the combo, heatsink and 512 megs of ram for around $155 shipped or so. Great deal.

does the board have integrated video or do i have to buy a separate graphics card. btw what is the cheapest graphics card able to output 1680*1050 res and able to play movies at it too.

AGP port. No integrated video. I just threw in an old GF2 that was sitting on the shelf.

Most Fry's combos come with an OEM CPU. Very rarely do you see a combo with a retail CPU. Judging by the price, no.

I work at that very Fry's, and yes we don't honor outpost prices. Notice that the site says "Outpost". It's simply an online representation of the store. If you really want to know if we have certain combos going, you should call ahead of time. And actually, 70% of our combos feature retail boxes.

Wow, maybe just the ones I go for are the OEM ones.
Yes, outpost.com is different, but quite often you guys carry the combo in store also.

Still doesn't mean you shouldn't call ;). Like people who don't call and get pissed when we don't have something. If you call, and we do have it, we will reserve one for you :p

Not a bad deal at all... I bit on the 3100 Combo.. Only $9 for 2 day shipping to VA.

The deal is still going on, quite hot if I may add.

Ordered Monday, got here today (Thursday) on the base second day shipping.

CPU was definitely a "box cpu" as it came in a small plastic container (not even the container in the "CPU in a Box" that AMD promotes, very small). Motherboard thankfully came in a box with all of the accessories. I was expecting some static wrap and maybe a manual

Overall, I'm pleased, hoping the stock heatsink from my Athlon will fit on this, will throw in my 9800 Pro and a 160GB harddrive I got for $20 (Gotta love gift cards for christmas). Considering putting my BH-5 in it (won't overclock) and upgrading my main rig to 1024mb x 2

If you're too lazy to look up the mobo specs, it's AGP 8x, has 2 DDR400 dimms amd no onboard video.

Can u guys confirm the 3100+ Sempron is the newer 90nm Palermo, not the older style 130nm Paris? Ditto for the 2800+ deal.

I just needed something to throw my old parts in, this is a nice deal for it. :)

Not great for OC, but great cheap setup, lots of info on a post about it over at fatwallet.

Good deal!

Paris's arn't that bad, I have a 3100+ paris that is doing 2.4ghz. (in a K8N-pro)

I'd pick one up, but i'm going S939 Sempy and Biostar Tforce 6100.

Model# sda3100aip3ax on the 3100+

Looks like a Paris.
Got my 3100+ combo the other day and it's the same one... a 32bit paris core. I may keep mine and install it this weekend, or put it on ebay and get an Asrock 1695 dual-sata instead. I've read that the ECS bios limits you to 250HTT but via software they can hit 270~300HTT mostly depending on the cpu's capabilities. I would be quite happy if mine can hit 2.4ghz (that's if i decide to keep it)

Whens that supposed to happen?

Its allready happened. The chips are not retail, they are strictly OEM. The only place you can get one is from a Compaq computer. (the only ones i've found) If you watch ebay, they will pop up every once in a while. They are fairly expensive thou, 3400+ S939 runs about $115-$130 on ebay.

Here's one for $100 + S/H: http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Sempron-340...850884682QQcategoryZ99236QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem, Though i think the lister has mis-identified it as a palermo core...

Edit: Another dude is selling these new socket 754 2.2ghz athlon64's w/heatsink for $85 BuyItNow. Too bad he doesn't include more details...
