I had 1 7800GTX in my system. Never had any problems. Then, I got a 2nd one. That's when my heat issues began. My comp would lock up after 5 mins of gameplay when I had the side of the case on. I have the side of my case off, and the ambient temperature is consistently 22C.

However, when I play BF2, FEAR, CS:S, or any other game that works my video cards, my system will either hardlock, or BSOD, when I'm playing. I'm a little frustrated about this.

Is a new case the solution?

Can you confirm what your CPU and GPU temps are?

Also, when you added your second GTX did you completely uninstall the Nvidia drivers and reinstall or just add the card and power it back on?

according to nTune, my CPU is idling at 38C and my GPU is idling at 50C. btw, i have an XP-90 with 92mm fan.

yes, new drivers had just come out, so i uninstalled and re-installed after getting the 2nd card.

Uninstall drivers, reboot in safemode, clean with Drive Cleaner Pro, then reboot into normal and install the drivers.

I have the same case as you, funny enough, I removed that squirrel cage like 120mm fan and my case temps went down. I don't think it is your case, I think it is software related. First though, take your components all down to stock, then make sure all your drivers are up-to-date.

Chipset, video, sound and windows updates.

with the SLI bridge, the 120mm squirrel fan doesn't fit. neither does the 80mm fan at the top of the case. my 660w psu is slightly too long. need a dremel to fix that.

enermax 660w. my enermax 535w blew up when i tried to play FEAR with both cards installed.

Thats interesting, the Enermax should have handled the load.

well, everything in the system was overclocked, and there's 4 power hungry harddrives.
