So with all of these threads giving a preview of what will be on sale, will vendors return you the difference of items purchased within 30 days? I honestly do not want to deal with crowds (I need a wrtg54) but if I could pick the items up early and take them back for the difference that would be great. So do places like Best Buy/Office Max do that for their black friday specials?

They announced on the news this morning that Wal-Mart will price match other companies Black Friday ads, so they might give you the refund as well.

QM

I bought the 27" Westinghouse HDTV from bestbuy yesterday that they have listed in their ad (they have it listed as a 26" in the ad, too bad westinghouse doesn't make 26" HDTVs... morons)

But yeah, some stores will allow you to buy ahead of time and come back during that early morning and price match. I talked to two different customer service MANAGERS yesterday at best buy and both said it was possible to do this.

Please take note that you will be in the customer service line for easily 30 minutes to an hour on friday though. Also, you have to be there during that early morning time (best buy it is 5am -10am) to get the price matched.

I just bribe the manager at my local Comp USA, and in return the things I want get set aside so I can snag it without having to go there at midnight :-D

Or just go there and buy it today. Get your refund that day. I've worked black friday before at Circuit City in 2000. After about 3pm it really dies down. In the evening it was just like a normal XMAS season day.

So how does the price match work with rebates and stuff involved? Im very tempted to do this because I really want the 26" Olevia from Circuit City and I dont want to take a chance that they run out. Thanks

You can just get the WRT54G for 39.99 AR at best buy TODAY. Then you get a $10 gift card on top of that. I think thats better than any of the black friday deals for that particular model that I've seen.

I think that price is good through Wednesday (tomorrow).

I work for a best buy and we ARE NOT allowing returns for the first 8 hours on black friday...meaning you can't buy early and price match. may just be a store by store thing though

What is your store number? I think BestBuy Corporate should be notified of your store managers actions as this goes against BestBuy’s current return & pricematch policy.

Too bad. I asked two customer service managers at Best Buy and they said they would allow PRICE MATCHING. I purchased the 27" Westinghouse LCD HDTV in the BF ad. They said they would allow me to come back Friday morning (between 5am and 10am) to get the difference back.

That sounds great but does anyone know if Circuitcity will do this?

If you check BestBuy's website, they show a 26" (Model: W2602BK) and a 27" (Model: LTV-27W2) LCD TV from Westinghouse. The 26" is shown as comming soon, and is black or dark grey, not like the light grey 27". This 26" LCD is the one in the add, not the 27" you just bought.

Crap... You have a good point. The friggen add picture looks just like my TV though... Crap, I might be in some trouble. :(

But still

Westinghouse doesn't list a 26" TV at all on their LCD portion of the site.

CRAPPPPP

On the phone with Westinghouse right now. Turns out it is a TV specific to bestbuy. Model is W2602BK

D@MNIT! Now time to see if BestBuy will sell me one before Friday...

Maybe in the past year it has changed but as a BB employee. It has always been my understanding that we will NOT honor competitior prices for Black Friday nor will we price match anything for or from that day. Now maybe WalMart is BUUTTTTT how many items that they sell do you see at the big Electronics retailers that are Identical down to the Model number??As with anything though shit changes and I could be wrong. But dont count on it. It would be the same thing if you tried to get a Rain check for an item on Black Friday NO DICE. These items are generally one time deals and you'll never see them on the shelves again

^^^^^ Well said. I work at CC and as far as i know we arent doing the price match deal either for black friday stuff. Again ill have to agree Shit changes, so if its just a single store thing don't pm me about it i really dont care.

Supposedly it will be 29.99 on BF @ BB.

I believe that its actually the WRT54C thats 29.99 on BF @ BB, not the WRT54G.

To add another step to your problems, the 26" version is now off of Bestbuy's website. It shows up if you search for the model number, but the page no longer exists.

Yeah, already called them twice yesterday. One store said that they were all on hold. Another store said that they didn't even have them in stock yet... I bet the later of the two just didn't know what he was talking about.

Oh well, looks like I'll be standing infront of BB at 2am. :(

Though, I really really love this tv that I did buy though. Was watching Any Given Sunday last night on it with Progressive scan on.... and just.....wow.

Some of our blackfriday items at Circuit City are currently makred up to $9999, just so they won't sell before hand. Also I know we have quite a few of the BF products sitting in the warehouse untill that morning. Buck up and get there early, all I can say.

Thank you. You have saved me some potential embarassment. I would not have been a happy camper had I got there by 10am only to find the wrong one is on sale. Plus I looked them up and Im thinking go for the WRT54GS. Though I only have 2 lappys that will be wireless so I dont know that its worth the extra cost.

I kidnapped the managers daughter last year and toldl him what to set aside.. Unfortunately he thanked me for taking the brat off his hands. I wound up paying him to take her back :-(

Just to let you guys know, I went to BestBuy today and asked if I could buy that same Westinghouse 27" monitor today and have it price matched on Friday morning but two different people both said no. They will not price match anything, here atleast. Southern Cali.

I just got back from Staples and Circuit City, at the Staples near me (I dunno about others) they said they will pricematch themselves if you buy before, I forgot to ask at Circuit City, but it sounds like no for their.

In case you were thinking about going/wanting to go to Staples for their $30 200gb hard drive, at least at the one I went to it was marked at $40 today, so if your local one is still open or will be open sometime tomorrow, you might want to check out that deal. $40 for 200gb is still better than CC's $60 250gb deal (if it matters, Staples' deal is for a Maxtor and CC's is for a WD, both 7200rpm/8mb Cache).

I just got my 26" Olevia LCD monitor HDTV today because CC said that they would price match on friday - and I get until january first to test out the monitor. If I dont like it I can return (w/o restocking fee) no questions asked :) . Needless to say Im pretty happy about it. Im in northern Jersey btw. Gluck to the rest of you.

IMHO, I think buying ahead and price-matching is cheating. If the stores let you do it, more power to you, but the goal is to have plenty of stock on Friday, not to have people empty their shelves the week before and then come back to price match.

True. I work at BB and lots of the products in the ad (which we aren't supposed to let customers see :p) is back in the warehouse or not available for purchase until Friday.

BTW, a 30 minute wait in line seems a little short. Managers are telling us to expect 1.5-2 hours  Of course it all depends how early you get there. I'd try and get there around 8.......... the night before :p

Not quite. Buying ahead of time is the SMART THING to do. Only thing is... the customer service lines were just as long as the lines for the checkouts at the stores I went to. You had to get there at opening if you wanted to make it worth while to price match.

Getting any "good" BF deal pretty much requires cheating unless the store hands out coupons and actually honors them. Of course, it depends on your definition of cheating. I would include cutting in line, elbowing and shoving people out of the way, and grabbing good from someone else as cheating. If you are first in line and aren't assertive, you won't get the item you deserve.

The item is never yours until paid for. Someone else who wants the deal more than you might take the item from you while you shop or wait to pay.

Kohl's, a department store in our area, let you pick out everything you want the day before, put a "hold" on it, and basically set your bag of stuff in back by customer service with your name on it. Out of the store within 10 minutes on Friday morning.
