I'm getting a little tired of CS:S and Battlefront uno and deuce. getting one dimensional, so might look at another genre of gaming. I've never played a MMORPG or anything like those, and I'm looking at some. I've ruled out SWG just reading...any post on it...ever made anywhere. Pretty much down to Guild Wars and WoW. Any tips for someone completely ignorant to these kinda games? Guild or WoW? Hard to tell based on reviews, kinda need regular player's opinions.

WoW all the way GW=ass compare to wow
Well, I wouldn't really put it that bluntly. GW is okay if you don't have too much time to devote. WoW is excellent if you have tons of free time, and a GF you wish to dump.

If you want PVP, GW

If you want not that great PVP, for the most part awesome stories and lore aka PVE, then WoW.

Guild Wars, because it's free and I got a career....lol. Wow is just not feasible when you sometimes work 10 hour days.

wow if you dont want to have any life outside of your dark room.

gw if you want to have a life outside your dark basement

so if you play wow and lvl decently fast then you dont have a life? i have 4 characters all lvl 40+ and i go out about 3-4 times a week with friends. i mostly go to the billiards and shoot pool and hangout there. i dont have a GF right now cuz im leaving for the navy ina month or so. and i work a full-time job with the occasional overtime. so i guess i do have a life and i find time to play wow....hhmmmm

Work 80 hour weeks, and tell me if WOW will be a priority in your life. The fact that you can hang out 4 times a week means you have alot of time on your hands despite the fact that you work.

Hrmmm... I'm not sure if agree completly with everyones sweeping generalizations.

So far I got this from what the majority of people said

* Play WoW = You have "no-life" and no significant other
* Pay GW = You have a life, note: no mention as to the status of the significant other mentioned

These generalizations on both sides are not all that true. I personally play WoW, why? Cause the lore is fantastic I also fancy the artistic graphics the game is much more immersing. I havn't played GW more than just durring Beta, but the thins I mentioned probably still hold true.

I wouldn't join GW, because I just don't feel it some people do, some don't. If you like any of the things I bolded above, then WoW might be the better option.

Thanks...

Note: if you join WoW and you REALLY like lore, join Maelstorm the server and send me a PM here so I can share a drink with you at the local tavern, maybe tell you about my life and maybe even join me guild.

GW = If you like RPG style fighting without tons of grind

WoW = if you want to build a detailed character and enjoy grind

As well - Guild Wars costs nothing after the initial purchase, no monthly fee.

WoW will cost you $15 a month or at least $180 a year.

WoW has fun PvP, the wait to PvP is just too long though..

I'd say GW is more for people with no life/GF .. with the anime type similarities and all.
