When you're playing a game u are looking at the screen, not down at your keyboard... and there are other game devices offering programmable buttons cheaper. In addition, there's a good chance this keyboard would not last more than 2 or 3 years under heavy use. IMO, I'd rather use my $2 thrift store keyboard and maybe spend the extra $58 on a better video card
I play all the Half Life games, Doom 3, Quake 4, FEAR, Civilization 4, and Age of Empires 3 right now. It's because I use my keyboard so much that a $60 keyboard would be a waste of money -- it would be dented with the backlit screwed up within a year, definitely in 2 years... unless it's very high quality. But from what I've seen from other keyboards(like the Saitek) is that hardcore gamers DO wear them out. I've gone through several keyboards in the last 4 years. Two of them were dented so bad u could see through the A and S keys. Currently I have a very high quality, silent type keyboard with the letters indented into the keyboard keys, and only very handy buttons for volume + or -, mute, and Internet. It's large enough that it fits my hand nicely for my config. I've been using it for over a month now and none of the letters have shown any sign of wearing off By the way it's an eMachines keyboard...Malatov said:The LCD will also integrate with other apps, for example with WinAMP to display ID3 info as you play music. It also displays a clock & calendar.
But by far the most important features are the backlight and the easy macro keys -- you can instantly program a macro key IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME to repeat a series of keystrokes.
It's definitely for hardcore gamers, and if you're happy with a $2 keyboard then you likely aren't the type to want or need a keyboard like this anyway.
Ahhhh that's one way to think about itxer0 said:I still have the best gamers keyboard, the original IBM m-type clicky. If you get beaten in a game, you can just smash your opponet (or computer) with your keyboard, and it will still work fine. Plus since there is some actual resistance to pushing, you keep your hands and wrists in shape so as not to get fag hands. Plus real men like auditory feedback from both their keyboards and their women when given tactile pleasure. None of the silent crap from either.
