Logitech G15 Keyboard $59.99

i must be the last person in america not to know about that keyboard but i've been away for about the last year and half so just now getting back but wow that is some crazy uhh yeah lol .. nice looking keyboard but i will have to stay with my all time fav. keyboard once you get used to this keyboard you will never use anything else

Keytronic Lifetime Designer

Good price on that keyboard.

The logitech and the Keytronic Lifetime Designer are for two different types of people. One is a gamers keyboard the other is more for graphic designers.

Cheapest I had seen this before was 79.99.

Not that great. The cheapest shipping they had for me was 12$ for regular ups ground. I think ill wait........

I fail to see why this is much more than a geek status symbol :p What's the point of having an LCD on a keyboard? When you're playing a game u are looking at the screen, not down at your keyboard... and there are other game devices offering programmable buttons cheaper. In addition, there's a good chance this keyboard would not last more than 2 or 3 years under heavy use. IMO, I'd rather use my $2 thrift store keyboard and maybe spend the extra $58 on a better video card :p

that my friend seprates you from the big guys.......

this is as best as gaming can get........many many programable keys.......so instead of pressing/wareing out awds keys, and space bar, and up down left right keys.......

you press the g keys and such :p its backlit so you can, and the lcd can help, so you can watch your mem useage and cpu useage hard core gamers will reboot if mem hits a certin point in gaming

The LCD will also integrate with other apps, for example with WinAMP to display ID3 info as you play music. It also displays a clock & calendar.

But by far the most important features are the backlight and the easy macro keys -- you can instantly program a macro key IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME to repeat a series of keystrokes.

It's definitely for hardcore gamers, and if you're happy with a $2 keyboard then you likely aren't the type to want or need a keyboard like this anyway. ;)

I want one because it looks better than this Compaq keyboard with built in card reader that I got for free. For me it's not for gaming.

The keyboard itself isn't really that suited to FPS gaming, but more toward MMO gaming...you don't really use custom macros that often in FPS games, and really, you don't need much more than wasd there. In MMOs, where you end up pressing the same key sequence over and over again, this is like a godsend.

If there was actually software that USES the LCD panel then maybe, MAYBE, it'd be worth it for gaming. Truth is, there's nothing yet created out there that's going to support this keyboard (or at least there wasn't as of a week or two ago).

Now, programming the LCD itself seems pretty simple, but until plug-ins are created for it and individual games provide support it'll just sit there (the LCD that is) gathering dust while you gameplay.

Admittedly it'll work for WinAmp and a few other apps right out of the box...which, looks like it'd be pretty cool for.

Give me a combination between the saitek eclipse and a zboard and you'd have a winner. Keys are just too "wierd" on a zboard for me but they're DAMN handy.

This keyboard could also be useful for rts games like starcraft, where you need to hit keyboard buttons quickly to get through build menus.

Yeah it is. My friend has the Saitek one, with that macro pad thing. He wins blizzard Starcraft/Warcraft tournaments for money and has been asked to play in Korea before.

When he got his keyboard, he couldn't stop talking about how cheap the macros were.

Also, with some MMORPG's these types of macros are against the EULA. I know for Dark Age Of Camelot, they specificially stated that a macro pad like this was not allowed (nomstro or something)

I was wondering...can you assign each programmable key some data value. Like, instead of pressing CTRL C and Control V to copy/paste, you assign each programmable key something. Like Key "1"holds the value "computer, "2" holds the value video card, and just pressing the key instead of having to type the word

Not sure, but that would be kind of neat for windows. Like a multiple clipboard manager.

i dont really like the look of this keyboard. I dont need all those extra keys on my keyboard taking up valuable realestate...even when im not gaming, which is usually 90% of the time. And LCD? Who cares? I built a LCD into my PC that tells me all vital system information already :D.

I'm still hoping for a driver update that'll let it change songs in Winamp in the middle of games. This global hotkey bullshit is..well...bullshit.

I bought it so I can see which song I'm jumping to in the middle of games. That would work, if they'd just set up the shortcut keys to work like they used to with the Logitech Elite this replaces.

Out. Man I would like to find a place that has the board in stock and for a reasonable price.

I play all the Half Life games, Doom 3, Quake 4, FEAR, Civilization 4, and Age of Empires 3 right now. It's because I use my keyboard so much that a $60 keyboard would be a waste of money -- it would be dented with the backlit screwed up within a year, definitely in 2 years... unless it's very high quality. But from what I've seen from other keyboards(like the Saitek) is that hardcore gamers DO wear them out. I've gone through several keyboards in the last 4 years. Two of them were dented so bad u could see through the A and S keys. Currently I have a very high quality, silent type keyboard with the letters indented into the keyboard keys, and only very handy buttons for volume + or -, mute, and Internet. It's large enough that it fits my hand nicely for my config. I've been using it for over a month now and none of the letters have shown any sign of wearing off :p By the way it's an eMachines keyboard... ;)

hhahha, wearing out a keyboard by gaming. that's funny. :D
So far I broke two $10 P/S2 keyboards (the most basic of kind) because of spilling Pesi or something on it

dang.. i thought only secretaries that typed at like 120+ wpm and had those fancy long-nail jobs (french manicures or osmethin) would cut through keyboards like that

I've had one of these for a few weekends now. I like it, it's a good keyboard. The keys have good feel, the LCD is somewhat useful (it was more useful when I was troubleshooting BF2 to watch mem usage but now that I nailed that down I pretty much don't pay attention anymore) but is crippled by Logitech as has been talked about at length.

The backlighting is cool; I can appreciate it. I also like the USB ports on the front of the board - previously I was sticking my USB stick in my monitor which I would have to pull out from the wall to do, now I just pop it into the keyboard and I'm good to go.

I also picked up a G5 mouse @ the same time and am enjoying it as well.

I still have the best gamers keyboard, the original IBM m-type clicky. If you get beaten in a game, you can just smash your opponet (or computer) with your keyboard, and it will still work fine. Plus since there is some actual resistance to pushing, you keep your hands and wrists in shape so as not to get fag hands. Plus real men like auditory feedback from both their keyboards and their women when given tactile pleasure. None of the silent crap from either.

haha funny :)

Yep, I'm picking one up. It'll match my Razer Copperhead mouse perfectly. Luckly we have a Tiger Direct store close to me, so I don't have to pay the trumped of shipping charges.

To those of you who are thinking about this keyboard let me tell you that I went to bestbuy (only cause I had some bestbuy bucks to blow on something) and decided to take a look at this keyboard. I was originally going to purchase the saitek eclipse, but after playing around with each I chose the G15. The keys are nicer, they don't feel like plastic unlike the eclipse, the G15 is a quieter keyboard, it's flater (which is more of a personal preference), the back light is awsome on both keyboards, the lcd on the G15 is awsome, it flashes from cpu and ram usage, to time and date, and is also programmable. I am now in love with the G15 and it is sitting on my desk right now as I sit back and admire it. For those of you who are deciding, I would buy the G15 hands down after playing with both the G15 and Saitek Eclipse. But as always, to each his own! Hope this helps someone.
