Which is quieter: Eheim 1048, Hydor L20/25/30, or Danner Mag 2/3?

Title says it all. While $$$ does play it's part, I'm mostly concerned about sound! I'm starting to lean toward the Danner Mag 2 for both reaseons. Any suggestions?

Definitley NOT the hydors, i had an L30 and it rattled like crazy. I rock an eheim 1250 right now and its almost completely silent.

c-systems mag pumps make 0 noise. your hard drives and fans will make more noise than the pumps will ever, i am runnins 2 of them and have to touch them to check if there on or not .

However their quality is off and on, the pump I received has the ticking noise problem, but has mostly gone away. It comes back every once in a while. It's supposed to go away with time though.

Eheim is what you are looking for, had two L30's and was glad to go over to the eheim's in the end.

Eheim are alittle cheaper HERE then on DD site and others. Usually get all my pumps from them since they are close to PC power & cooling. ( Same area )

If you don't want to get a CSP-MAG (whatever your reason may be), check the For Sale/Trade subforum or another classifieds for used pumps. I got my 1048 for only $25 used :D
Here's the (as of this post) results for 'pump' in the [H] FS/T.

get a danner mag 3. They have great head & flow for the money, just watch out for leaks. Teflon tape is your friend.

edit: oops, sorry misread the title. I think the difference in noise is probably negligible for the price and performance that you will get by getting a mag 3.

Eheim is definitely the quietest though. That's what they're made for, not performance.

Has anyone tried any of the other pumps on this page besides the Eheims? Their specs seem to be more than good enough for a WC system and cost a bit less than the Eheims...

go w/ the ehiem 1048. Procooling has a WMV files that covers the sound make by a no. of pumps, including 1048. Go download it

ehiem, tried and proven for watercooling. IWAKI also if you can get hold of them.

I've searched the site and am having trouble finding this file. I found a very helpful article called "pump comparison" that had head/flow-rate comparisons but not much mention of sound. Could you send me the link for the WMV file?

also, if it's the chart that i'm thinking of, keep in mind that those are manufacturer specs, not results tested in house.

http://www.procooling.com/articles/html/pump_comparison__-_phaestus__1.php

different testing methods, different fudge factors, etc.
