im going to sound like a total noob by asking this, but denying ignorance is true ignorance. so...

does the water in a loop really "dry out" overtime? meaning the water vanishes overtime and one has to refill every so months? if so, how often? if not, are water cooling loops virtually maintenance free once it is built?

how troublesome is it to bleed a loop? does one have to separate the entire loop (water blocks, radiators, reservior, and pump) from the components then disconnect the tubing?

Edit: oh, ya. the original question. if loops are not maintenance free, how often do you refill / bleed?

To answer the basic question, yes, water cooling systems do need to be serviced, how often depends on the size of your res/"T" line.

i see.
how about for a 5.25" reservior? i just want to get a rough idea.
thanks ;)

i think it would be good if u change the water every 6 months.. take it as a computer maintence :)

it depends. if it looks bad, like it really needs it then ill do it 6 months. but if it looks fine then i go for a year. even if it looks alright, i change it anyway at the year mark. i think on my first watercooling system it went 2 years lol. i didnt know at the time what i was supposed to do. you live you learn i guess.

As to how often........like the others said, 6 months to a year. But you should check you warer level every few weels to be safe............ :D But I know some folks that won't check them until they hear the water splashing in the res.................

I flush my loops every two months or so. Once the radiator is nice and full of dust bunnies I flush.

Yes lol ALWAYS check your water levels. I think I did a little too late when I had a huge puddle on my floor from a crack in my old pump. There was only like 3/8" of water left in my bay res lol.
