Hello,

I am currently putting together a new Shuttle XPC SB95P v2 and I was curious on what you would all recommened for memory? It uses DDR2 at 400mhz or 533mhz. I have been looking at the Crucial Ballistix memory, most likely 2GB (1GBx2). I plan on overclocking this rig, should I go for 667mhz? or stick with the 533? Let me know... Thanks.

If you have the money for balistic's, get them, they are good for OC'ing......if youd rather save money, go with Crucial value DDR2 ram, wont notice much diffrence, the reason you wont is you wont gain much overclocking wise with a shuttle system, so, you can get value if you want to save money on video card or better cooling setup, or beefy psu, or stick with the balistics.......thats my 2 cent

ok, so basically if I decide to stay at stock I should go for the value ram at the system recommended speeds, but if I decide to overclock just to see what I can do and go for the ballistix, should I go with 667mhz or 533mhz? Thanks Again...

Hey Eclipse,

Thanks for the reply, I have one more question. I have been reading a lot of different things, but it seems as though I won't be able to get a lot more out of my shuttle, but I realize this varies from system to system. However, would I be able to get as much using the crucial value ddr2-667 or should I go for the ballisitix ddr-667. I am going for 2GB and don't want to spend over $400 on memory if I am only going to gain a small amount that value ram could maybe give. What do you think? (I realize the CL times on PC5300 Crucial Value Ram are terrible) Thanks.

i wasn't aware that there was ddr2-667 value ram, time to do a bit of digging :p

hm, so there is. the ballistix will definitly be more overclockable, but with the ddr value vs ballistix, it's not an astounding difference. i dunno how the ddr2 holds up though. i don't think the ballistix is really worth it yet... unless you're into some hardcore overclocking. haha
