Let me start with a breakdown of my current network...

RCA Cable modem -> Linksys WRT54GS -> Linksys 8 port workstation hub

Now I need to make a wired device wireless. It's not a PC, but a Hauppauge MVP. It is a device that play video files from the network. My obvious answer is a bridge. Problem with that is that they are just as pricey as a router and require a hub to allow more than one connection. I would prefer to find an inexpensive 54G router on sale and turn it to a bridge. This would give me 4 wired connections in one unit. Is this possible? are there any units that are easier to work with than others?

Most wireless routers can do this, it's called "client mode". The router connects to your AP as a client and gives the 4 lan ports acsess to the network. The WRT54G does this very well and would work well with your current WRT54GS. I would suggest getting your self one of those. But i'm sure there are less expensive routers that can do the same.

well, looks like I might just have to get one at a place with a good return policy and try it out. I would prefer to saty Linksys, but not 100% set on it.
