Chemical Warfare

Ok. Stripes stay.

Today I cut out the bay covers where I will put the mesh into, and sanded them down along
with the front bez, have the first coat of white primer on all of them.. cammo paint to come
in stages throughout the day (I wont take too many pics to bore you with the process since
it will be the same as all the other parts of the computer)

the project is wrapping up nicely!--I like the details on the front of the case--keep up the great work. ;)

Great mod! I'm feeling the stripes, glad they're staying. I had an idea for your glowing "spillage". You could get the UV Dye (xoxide and frozencpu have them) and simply mix it into something like white silicone (Elmer's comes to mind due to it's consistency), then you can cause the "spill", but it will stay where you put it. Also, the added thickness for a 3-d look would be really eye-catching, and the silicone could also serve to hold the broken vial in place.

Hey why don't you add some modder's mesh between the yellow plexi in front of the fans, so you can keep your striped look all the way through?

Its that time again..

2x UV Reactive Yellow fans + 8x UV LED's (custom installed)
Fans are running off 5v to quiet them down even more
(stock they are ~21db)

//Notice the ghetto rigged HDD hanging in there? IBM circa 1995..)

Will be adding the "Chemical Warfare" Stencil on the two stealthed
bays later on, painting the cooldrive front with white (silver now.. just
so it blends in better) Adding the grey to the front bez. and clear
coating everything. then it is time for more work inside..)

This is an old Serial Switch box (for printers and the likes)
Scrap from work (along with scrap speaker from work)
Was a quick and dirty project I did a few months back, will be
reborn into the ChemWar look.. has 2x primer, 2x white on it.
so next is the black/grey then fixing up the electronics etc

Mmm i forgot to take a picture of the spillage I did
from last night, looks decent.. have to test it under
UV sometime this week and post some pics..

Thanks for taking a look Crimson ;)

This mod is looking so good. Great job on your log as well!

Spillage! Cool, can't wait to see it! :D

Looking good. I like the way everything is turning out.

only 40mm fan I have that doesn't make noise is the one in my IBM 7207-001 tape drive.

Tape drives is so 1980's

Tape drives are still used alot in the US... granted they are only in places
where they have large IT dept's and mostly in gov't buildings but they are
pretty helpful.. thankfully between the 8 HDD's I have. i have like 20 copies
of anything that is somewhat important!

Grr. back to the normal grind of the week, updates will be slow in comming
if at all until next weekend..

please don't hold back the spillage. It's putting me through serious mental anguish

Dude, I was ironic.. And I do not only play games on my machines. I have an Xbox and a Gameboy advanceSP for that.

lookin good kodiak! With a little bit more wire managment (which you are probably already working on...) it will be perfect. Like I said earlier, I love your interpretation on a chem/biohazard style case. You pulled it off better than any bright green glowy case I've ever seen. Nice job, looks like you are on the home stretch!

btw - I also enjoyed the shameless plug. Assimilate all the Boxen to the [H]orde! :D

I love your mod, It a real good layout and you can see that hard work is paying off! :)

What happened to the black front  :
ChemWarSplat.jpg

The Black front looked much cooler than the Camo front IMO.

Well for a long time all i heard was how people hated the black front ^_^
and no one really spoke out about keeping it at the time. The black
front was more of a fusteration act of mine as when i painted it cammo
the first time some parts were not sanded well enough and when i pulled
the tape of the paint came with it, so mad, i just painted it all black...

I think overall now it looks more uniform.. as for the black/yellow stripes
all I have heard has been positive comments to keep them, so unless
you can think of something uber uber cool to do instead, they stay ;)

Looking good KodiakStar

You've inspired me. Now, if I only had a extra computer sittin' around that I could mod....

;)

I'll have to think about the weathered look.. hmm.

Doing some more painting, its barely warm enough outside... 40ish..
but getting closer and closer to finalizing different parts. the outside
of the case is 95% ish complete now.. just some inside things
and wiring/voltage changes to complete.

then some keybard and mouse modding. (to blend in naturally)

Ohh. Picture time.

What I did today.
Painted the BayCovers
Glued the PowerButton/USB Plate onto the front Bez
Glued the Plexi Fan Cover on the front Bez
Finished Cammo'ing the front Bez
Cammo Painted the Speaker Box
Added some Pax.Mate sound mats
Did some wire fixin (looks prettier now)
Snipped out the 40mm Fans to rewire later

umm. think thats all for right now, didnt take many pictures
because the painting process was same as doing the rest
so not that hard! now onto the cool pictures.. took a few this
time so you could see the overall image of it so far:

//Don't mind the mess, I will clean it up when im all done ;)//

that is really nice man. i love the paint job and the idea with the highlighter in the little vials.

looks great, I'm glad you made the camo on the front match up with the camo on the sides. Nice job!

Looking good cobba, bugger you can't see both sides when its on your desk
unless you planing on moving it when you clean the desk

Next up I get to make a custom holder for all those nifty vials, and finishing
the Voltage change on the 40's, and working on the junction box. I can see
the end!

Did you break the vials by accident? :(

edit: Do'h I get it you were looking for more comments.....maybe everyone is alseep... Obviously I am also.

cant wait t0 see the vial holder, maby you could make it out of plexi, and have some UV LED's inside it somehow

Only 3 comments! I am Crushed! :(

I just notice that nothing glows in the above set of pictures. To keep my attention it'll either need to be shiney or glowy. Oh lookie, a quarter

Ummm how come what happened ??? Or just a comment ???

Its looking Dayum Good  :D ya did a one hellava job on it, making me Jealous :p and wanting my new rig.
I have been watching your project, waiting eagerly for the new Pics

Dre

Excellent work, it looks great. What you need now is some smoke coming out of the front grills. And what you did on the side with the chemical bottles is awesome specially the glowing. Awesome work!

The key to the Vial holder will be using our gas stove for a
manner in which it was not intended... so have to do it during
a time when the fiance is not around..

"Oh my god you are going to burn the apt down.."

I would do smoke out the front, but Crimson has that idea already
plus if I sink any more money into this I want it to run faster/better ;)

I will have to take some pictures tonight, but I am trying to find the
perfect mix of the "highlighted" water with tonic water for best glow
and best look under UV
