i'm sure it's been discussed before and i know they all do the same thing..

but, i was wondering what you all use and how you like it, i've used many and some are better than other in terms of construction. ie. caps are secure and dont lose the "snap" after a few weeks of use. or if the keyring loophole is ON the cap or on the body..

also, are there a big difference in speeds between the thumb drives?

i've got an old ass 64mb cruzer mini and it's held up pretty nice, but now there's ALOT out there and i was just wondering what you guys like and reccomend..i'm going to need a bigger one.

I own a Kingston 128mb thumbdrive, and the keyring is on the body. The cap is solid plastic and has no grips on it. My biggest gripe with a lot of thumbdrives is that the caps don't have any sort of gripping on them, while the body may. My fingers are a little big and its hard to tug on a cap thats smooth and angled. Because it is solid plastic, I have to bend the cap a little to the side to pull it off.

Regarding speed, there seems to be a pretty big difference between brands. A Kingston 2.0 "Hi-Speed" one claims 9mb-read/7mb-write, while an Apacer one claims 20mb-read/14mb-write. The newer Apacer ones won some awards in Japan, so I'm planning on getting one next.

I got the 256 cruzer and I fucking love these things. I use alot of public computers at school and it doesn't get better than this. Look left, and look right, those guys are useing floppys. He He, not me, not today. Awwww, it doesn't fit on that floppy, too bad. I have a RedVsBlue COLLECTION on mine (along with school stuff, of course).

I got a 512MB Titanium Cruzer and i'm still trying to find shit to put on it. I can't seem to get near filling it up. :(

I put all the programs and diagnostics i would need to troubleshoot computers and such and its not even halfway filled

KINGSTON 512MB USB Flash Pen Drive Data Traveler (wow it's much cheaper than when I bought it, which was about $74.)

I love this thing, no corrupt data (where if I burn a CD and try to get something later, it would say the data is corrupt, I know this was a huge thing back in the floppy diskette age) so it seems that it writes very well. It's on my keys so it also goes through cold/hot/icky weather, the cover still snaps, and it has grips. My only gripe is that the included thing that lets it snap onto that big loop thing so you can put it on your neck (freak the name of it eludes my mind) is weak. Not weak to where it will fall off out of nowhere, but weak where you wouldn't want to maybe swing it in a circle like an English cop with his baton. =0)
Obviously since I said that, I've done exactly that and it has fell on the concrete a good amount of times, nothing wrong with it at all.

All in all, very durable, has that grip you want, this particular model can hold a lot (and this is coming from a graphic designer), definately something I don't regret buying, AND it looks like it's $30 cheaper than when I bought it (and you get your MIR in about 4 weeks, they e-mail you what's going on and stuff).

Hope this helps fellow NJ-ian.

You know, I'm just waiting for someone to make a USB terabyte flash drive about the size and shape of a 4 D-cell Maglight.

I use the Lexar JumpDrive 512 MB. I have not had any issues with it yet. The cap so far is secure and the keyhole is on the device itself. The part i really like is that it has build in privacy software so you can segment a percentage of the drive as private and the rest public. The private portion is password protected. Very nice.

I dont have actual speed results handy but I it is not the main decision factor for me so...I like it.

Lexar Jumpdrive Secure 256mb: had 4 of them. they all broke in the span of 1 year...(and no I didn't do anything to abuse them). Fuck Lexar.

Lexar Jumpdrive Sport 256mb (I complained to lexar and asked them to send me something else, they sent me this. I use it for school work)

Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 512mb (use it for computer work. it rox)

I have to agree with you on that. Anybody who used the Lexmark had then break over what seemed nothing.

the lexar drives seem pretty sturdy but i've never trusted the brand, alot of people seem to have problems with them. i don't like thier flash memory either.

anyone have any experience with the Fujifilm thumbdrive, i've heard the speed on it is pretty much unmatched.

i like the cruzer micro, its VERY small and has the key loop built into the body...any others you guys like?

I bought a Sandisk mini cruzer and it died in less than a month. I rma'd it and sold the one they replaced it with. I decided to purchase a 256MB Sony thumb drive and it has worked perfectly for over a year.

I have a 64mb Dell one that was a free gift when I bought my laptop. That wasn't enough memory, so I picked up a 256mb Cruzer Mini. I love that thing. I also just picked up a 1gig iPod Shuffle. I have my workout playlist taking up some space, then about 600mb or so of space for data. I only carry that with me now.

I have a 512 Cruzer Mini for school stuff, and a 512 Cruzer Micro that I got for xmas this year (got the mini for my birthday) thats used for music w/ the mp3 player attachment and the occaisional file when I dont have my bigger mini (which still fits in the mp3 player attachment, but sticks out a good bit). Both of them work great, I dont care too much about transfer speeds, its no big del for me to have to wait 10 seconds instead of 5 :p

I have a 512mb one, i forgot what brand. I can check when im at home but when i want to format it. I go to my computer>right click on it than format and i have options of formatting it in NTFS or FAT32 and a couple others. Anyone else have that? Should i use NTFS?

I have a Dell 128MB and a Sandisk Mini Cruzer 256MB. They both work well, but the Dell thumbdrive has a wide plastic casing, which makes it impossible to plug in many other USB devices next to it.

The Mini Cruzer has treated me well for nearly a year now.

my memorex 128mb is awesome. i have had no problems with it, and it has been abused pretty badly. fell out of my pocket in a friends driveway, he found it 3 days later, and it still works fine, also survived an adventure through the washing machine and dryer, and still works perfectly!

great device
