Does anyone know where I can find specs like the response time? It's somewhat of a factor for me. I really like this model but I can't find it on their site, thanks.

It's a bit confusing  The European Dell site says it's 25ms response time but I've heard people talking about 13ms too. I would be pleased to get this clarified aswell.

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems like the earlier versions of the 1704FP were 13ms made by Lite-On, but the current batch seems to be made by Samsung at 25ms.

That's odd that they list on the UK site, but not here in the USA. I wish I knew someone with a 25 ms monitor that I could play CS on for a bit and see how bad the ghosting really is.

There seems to be a difference between the 1704 FPV, which apparently has a 25ms response time and the 1704FPT, which has a 13 ms response time. In any event, here is a link from the U.S. Dell website that lists all the stats of the FPT

it compares all their current screens. I recently bought a Dell (monitor came yesterday, computer should show up today) and had a hard time getting them to clarify which monitor I was getting. The sales people seem to have a tenuous grasp, at best, on the concept of response time: the guy I talked to was gushing about the super-fast 25ms response time. I'm not sure about the distinction between the FPV and the FPT and I'm not sure they make much of a distinction between the 25 and 13 ms response time models so I'd be careful if I were you.

The 1704FPV is a PVA panel (Samsung) and the monitor is manufactured by LiteOn. So the 25ms response is a black-white response. The gray to gray response will be alot worse. The colors should be excellent and the viewing angles will be pretty wide. If you want to play fast games, it may not be the best monitor to get but for photo, text, video it is most probably a good fit.

The 1704FPT is a TN panel (don't know the manufacturer). It is much faster, but viewing angles will be narrower, and it probably is a 6-bit panel.

That's what i gathered when looking for info about this monitor. I did not buy it though.

Meh, the only way I can figure how to get the display from dell is to order a computer, and seeing as how I will never do such, I'm going to be watching ebay, thanks guys.

Hey there- I too have bought a dell system with the FPT model but am VERY unsure as to what exactly this monitor looks like (I've not yet received it)- it seems the FPT and the FPV have different styling as well as the specs mentioned here.... could you tell me which one of the below looks like yours? I've pasted some pics of each: (I should mention the FPT below is the 1703 version, the FPT is 1704- not sure which the 1704FPT resembles most!) * this is all so confusing!*

No one at Dell seemed to even understand that there were 2 versions- but I gathered that the FPT comes with a system whereas the FPV is sold seperately.

Thanks for any help.

The 1704FPV's specs really look like a PVA/MVA panel. The 1000:1 contrast ratio and 89 degree (bezel gets in the way...) viewing angles are pretty much a giveaway for an MVA or PVA panel if they're not outright lying about the specs.
MVA/PVA w/ 25ms response time... definately not a gaming screen. Just plain excellent for office use though.
