How many here get random lockups that last 30-60 seconds before you can continue playing. Or hardlocks and you get the "your videocard couldn´t finish a draw bla bla" error message.

Please list your CPU as well

Yes, not a 6800 u tho, just gt. I get the same freezes with an x800.
clawhammer 3400+
dfi lanparty nf2

I got one once in doom3 just as you said. Never happened again. No message from computer. Got one yesterday in half life 2 for no good reason. It was a hard lock that required restart and reload. These are the only two that have occurred for no good reason.
FX-53/6800U both at stock speeds/ASUS A8V

Maybe should have added frequently :),

Personally I get them once every 30-60 minutes generally.

I had the same problem too. It happened on both a Soltek k8nGR2-e and a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Pro. By removing the Nvidia GART driver it fixed it. The only time I got the lockups were in Direct 3D apps (3dmark / Source Engine Games / etc.), OpenGL seemed to never lock up.

Removing nVidia GART driver? Is there any negative effects in doing that?

NF7-S rev.2 (with some bios from sepetember 2003, i've never flashed and that's when I got it)
Barton @ 2.4GHz
RAM at DDR 370
Mobo drivers 4.23
67.02

no lockups at 440/1.2

GART didn´t help. Just made it all more stuttering :p.

I can´t even run 3DMARK03 without lockups

You need a cooler / better ventilated case (and/or better PSU).

Something is causing the card to throttle back similar to the way Intel processors do. (or it could even be the added heat in the case, causing your CPU to throttle - unless that vapochill is hooked up to it )

It´s not heat related... My PSU should have enough juice definiatly. Don´t remember if it´s 34 or 38 Amp on the 12 V line and 650W peak power. Anyway I only have the 6800 ULTRA and a WD RAptor and a regular dvd and harddrive except my vapochill XE running it so it´s definiatly not a power issue either.

Can´t imagine it anyway.

Anyway most people get this video card up to 450 anyway and I can´t get 400/1100 stable. Even brand new it wasn´t very good though I didn´t have this problem.

Yes have tried everything you can imagine. I tend to get nice colour bars when I run 3DMARK03 at times. Other times I get checkerboarding. The annoying thing is that it goes away when rebooting I want to be able to RMA it because it´s definiaty not healthy.

No lock ups here but what i do have is when I OC more then 455 on the core and 1150 on the memory my computer reboots after some time.

Strange thing is that i have no artifacts at all.
Just reboots.
Someone told me that the Ultra is realy PSU sensitive when OC'ing.
He had the same problem and when he changed his ANTEC 550Watt to a OCZ 600Watt he was able to OC stabel up to 467/1250 with stock cooler (before the max OC was 445/1185 i think).

So I wonder what is the cause of these reboots: the limits of the graphic card or the PSU?
Now I have a Levicom 500Watt.

The problem is my PSU owns Antec, OCZ or whatever. So that shouldn´t really be the problem. And my Vappo XE uses quite a small compressor so it doesn´t draw much really.

Unless any other here with PC Power and Cooling 510 Deluxe are having trouble with 6800 ULTRA:s?
