Ok this is just my theory and my opinions
This is strictly for BBA cards with vivo /rage theatre chip and 1.6ns ram.
Ok i modded about 5 of these guys all from compusa, cause those were what i had access too.
All 5 successfully modded to x800xt pe. using gigabyte bios for flash and then flashed to ati x800xt bios and then i flashed 2 of them back to the gigabyte bios. and heres why
The ones that ran stock xtpe speeds and above already had 1.4 -1.42 volts on my multimeter when i checked --- 2 cards
The ones that had difficulty reaching those speeds with stability and artifacting had a voltage of 1.3- 1.32 multimeter readings --- 3cards. I pencil modded these suckers to 1.4-1.45 and i only got about a 5-10mhz increase in core and nothing on memory. So it didnt help a thing.
Now whats funny is i thought all x800 pros had a default voltage of 1.3-1.32.
Unless (this is the theory I came up with) the 1.4 volts which are stock volts for xtpe were just rebadged retail x800xt pe. Even the memory on these bad boys could clock 15-20 mhz higher with the core running 20-30 higher right off the bat.
the 1.3v were struggling to make stock 520 and heavy artifacts at stock 560 memory.
Maybe the 1.3v croe x800's were the ones that failed the xtpe test and got rebadged.
And maybe the 1.4v x800's were perfect xtpe that was just rebadged.
this is my 2 cents and i could be 110% wrong but thats my conclusion.
sorry for my babbling
