I got some small cathode neon light bulbs off ebay and want to use them in a case mod. The sell says I need to hook them up at 120vdc at very low current. What would I need to get that out of a Computers PS?

You will need the appropriate "inverter" for these cold cathodes

(I say "inverter" because it's not really an inverter in the usual electrical sense of the term)

you know of a place that sells one? ALl the ones I can find go from dc to ac, I dont see any that will give me 120vdc from a computers dc.

Well that's why I said "inverter". Sometimes what you need is mistakenly called an inverter, but as you have found that's not what you need. Jameco.com or Mouser.com should have what you're looking for.

umm... does anyone else find it incredibly foolish to convert 120VAC to 12VDC to 120VDC? I can almost guarantee you will get less than 50% efficiency with that method, not to mention higher cost than just going 120VAC -> 120VDC. Going from AC to DC is as simple as a bridge rectifier with maybe some filtering. And you cannot use transformers with DC.
