I've been having problems with my network. I have several win2k machines hooked up to a win2k server. Some of the client machines have been taking an unusually long time to load up lately (10 minutes sometimes). They seem to slow down when the machine is loading up the user settings. Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem? I'm really not sure where to start looking.

maybe there's a lot of junk in the user accounts that the comp need to sync or whatever.

How can I see what is loading up on Win2k? It doesn't appear there is a "msconfig" equivalent.

There's a couple of ways:

Go into your registry to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and delete whatever isn't necessary, but first export those lines in case you delete something you need.

Otherwise go into your Control Panel/Administrative Tools and open Services and disable any services you don't think you need.

There's also third-party software that works like MSCONFIG, But I can't think of any right now.
