When it comes to overclocking theres no such thing as easily hitting a certain speed as different processors have different capabilities. having said that, getting 3.0ghz really shouldn't be a problem. download coretemp (google it) and monitor your processor's temp. i personally get...

:-P seems to me like they designed the device to be so un-user-serviceable that they shot themselves in the foot. 100$ is a whole lot of money for what should be a relatively simple and cheap hardware replacement.
