    New rig freezing, some help?

Tried, but it kept freezing. I have run the ram through memtest on a friend's pc and it has worked just fine (had to do the modules individually though, because he only has 2 dimm slots and one is bad). This narrows it down to the motherboard or cpu. Is there any way to figure out which it...

But no longer. It is freezing no matter what RAM I put in now. I am dying inside. :(

    New rig freezing, some help?

I've tried removing-replacing everything but the CPU/motherboard and I'm pretty sure it's the RAM. I stuck in my old stick of 512MB PC2700 and everything worked just fine (looped through 3dmark05 three times without a freeze).

Flip-flopping is a good thing if you flop onto the right side.

Fair enough. You aren't necessarily wrong by saying that you are "formatting and reinstalling Windows" since you are formatting the drive. However, it is typically called "reformatting" since the drive is already formatted. If you format a drive that is already formatted, you are reformatting it.

A drive must be formatted to have ANYTHING installed on it. You can't install something on a drive that doesn't have a file system. I think the cause of your confusion is a lack of understanding as to what formatting actually means, and not any terminological fallacy.

Are you telling me you have windows installed on an unformatted drive? Because that would be pretty funny.

    are the logitech x-530 5.1 better than z-640 5.1??

I've had the X-530's for about a week and I've been very satisfied with the music quality. I'm no expert, but they are definitely a step up from my midquality 2.1 speakers. I love 'em.

If your hard drive is formatted, and you format it again, you are reformatting it. If Windows is installed, and you install it again, you are reinstalling it. It's not that hard to understand, really.

It's a Vantec Stealth Aluminum 420W power supply. Could it be the problem?
