    A quick update... I flashed the LSI cards to version (RC) 13, and now Solaris 11 works just fine, however FreeBSD 9 and FreeNAS still don't work. Looks like I'll have to pay Oracle some $$ and use Solaris for these NAS servers, ugh.

    Thanks! The Dell R510 supports up to 12 hot swap bays, and 2 internal 2.5" HDD"s (for os, etc). Drive Bays Cabled or Hot-Swap options available: Cabled HD options: Up to four 3.5" SAS or SATA drives Hot-Swap HD options: Up to eight or twelve 3.5” SAS or SATA or 2.5” SAS or SSD drives

    I'd love to see IXSystems sell TrueNAS decoupled from hardware, and take on Nexenta, which I've shared with the folks over there. I guess they make enough money/margin on hardware that if they didn't bundle it with TrueNAS there isn't value to being just another SuperMicro reseller.
