The only reason I came up with SSD suggestion was because you considered using SAS drives for RAID0.
I assume you meant 1TB, though, you could get even that cheaper than $1K.

If you can sell these drives and use the money to buy SSD you would get much better performance and lower power consumption. Of course if you need a LOT of fast storage it might get very expensive with SSDs, but you previously mentioned "35-60GB per wedding", so I assume that's more or less the...
