• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

    FalconStor - Anyone use it?

We implemented them for two different customers. The concept is good but the software was subpar and the support was even worse. We found it extremely difficult to get it setup correctly for snapshots (that worked) and moved on quickly.

    Hardware for SBS

I did due to his budget and the fact that it would be enough. SAS is ideal but adds up if counting dollars. Speaking about QBE specifically the bottleneck is rarely the server drives. Below taken directly from Intuit's 2011 Enterprise notes. Work done on QuickBooks data on any one computer...

Anyone got a call from Dell/EQL about PSxxxx FW issues?

Fairly sure what you are describing is a teleco routing issue and not Dell's fault.

    Hardware for SBS

FYI - QBE workstation performance is more dependant on the network bandwidth and local CPU then the speed of the drives in the server.

    Hardware for SBS

I love Exchange since I got my start with MS Mail but for the number of desktops you are talking about and the small budget I would just go with a single Windows 2008R2 8GB memory and use Google Apps for email and Calendar. No need to get more then a single processor for that size. Could also...

Free ESXi 5.0 8 GB vRAM Limit

This should be cleared up in the licensing FAQ soon but it's 8GB per socket with a max of 4 sockets. So for most it will be 16gb some 32gb. The ones I see getting the shaft is the home labs that likely will not want to shell out for a 2nd processor just to get 16gb.

    Big VMware Announcement!

Joseph M. Tucci is the Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of EMC Corporation AND Chairman of the Board of Directors of VMware Corporation. Yep no influence at all. ;) Nothing personal NetJunkie. I am full of koolaide and refuse to drink anymore.

    Big VMware Announcement!

Depends on what you consider staying the same. Essentials+ price just went up 25% and they put HARD limits on the memory for Essentials/Essentials plus. If you want more you need to get Standard at 300% more than Essentials plus costs and the only *feature* you get for all that money is the...

    SonicWALL TZ Series?

No need to stop bragging .. untangle/trix/pfsense and all opensource is great but we will agree that it does not have a place in all business environments. And correct me if I am wrong but trixbox=astrix :) I have my logins at work but the SNWL knowledge base has documents on on setting up...

    SonicWALL TZ Series?

you really need to quit spouting the "Sonicwall does not work with Voip" and your other nonsensical rants. The only time I have seen a sonicwall have an issue with VoIP was an Astrix server that was not a standard version and did not follow the spefications correclty. Also customers under...

Suggestions on backup 10TB to remote location over T1.

So to circle back to this after further research it was determined that only 90 days retention was necessary so we are purchasing two wan and snapshot friendly iscsi sans to do the job. Based on my calculations we can realistically expect 400mb/hr over the high latency connection which will be...

Let's talk labor pricing, any MSP here?

Connectwise is a PSA like Tigerpaw, Autotask, and etc. It is Not a MSP/RMM package but these integrate with it. It takes a lot of time to get proficient with it but the payoff in automation is huge. Hard to explain if you have not experienced what a properly setup PSA can do for a small...

Strange issue with PE2950, Perc Raid, and Hitachi 2TB drives

Controller bios show the drive online when in slot 2? Have you reset the controller and recreated the arrays? Put on of the non-2TB drive in #2 and call it a day :) If it is really a hardware problem I would suspect the backplane. p.s. If you can replace the controller with a perc6i your iops...

Suggestions on backup 10TB to remote location over T1.

Simple setup really. Two esxi servers and about 10TB of data stored on an Equallogic. Looking for a solution that once seeded can keep up over a 1MB link. Current environment below. - Connection will use riverbed's for wan optimization - Daily change is estimated at about 500MB-1GB -...

Anyone with a cisco ironport web security device?

I have access to a number of Ironports but unless it is running really old code (that had a bug blocking javascript whe blocking of java apps was enabled) I do not see how that could really be the issue. With that said I will help if I can.
