if you live near a microcenter it would be worth it to ebay the cpu and get a 3570 IMO. you can bet a 3570K and a motherboard for about 280.00 tax included. if you can reuse the memory on your old board that would be a win
got the 3570K for 189.00 and a Asrock Z77 pro4 motherboard for 69.00 as a combo deal from microcenter in Denver. hell of an upgrade for 260.00 plus tax
went from a q9550 at 3.6ghz to a i5-3570K mainly for sata3 and other stuff with z77 motherboards. I do not notice that huge of a difference as i have a fast SSD in my system. I am rocking an EVGA GTX 480 at 825mhz so I have plenty of GPU power for games, it gave me a huge boost from my GTX 460...
