    Sticky outer surface of mouse

I saved a logitech wireless mouse using the alcohol method. The rubbery grips on the sides were sticky, so using a rag with alcohol took it off to the smooth plastic, and it's like new again. I've used the method on other devices since and it's worked great. All that grippy rubber compound melts...

HOT ! Various 1TB NVMe with coveted E12 Controller $135 aprox retail

I think there are some motherboard compatibility issues with these, and likely other NVMe drives. I posted back on #303 about slow 4k speeds when I imaged my OS drive (a Samsung 950 EVO SATA). After a couple days Windows apps wouldn't open so I switched back to the Samsung and reformatted the...

HOT ! Various 1TB NVMe with coveted E12 Controller $135 aprox retail

Interesting. My SSD came with the 12.2 firmware: I hoped updated to 12.2 might clear up my issue.

Not sure what's up with my 512 GB Inland. Other than the sequential speed the others look way off. It's installed in an ASRock X370 Taichi in the M2_1 (32 Gb/s) slot with an AMD 1800x.

Windows 7 Is One Obstinate OS

I keep using Win XP in a VM just so I can keep using my perfectly good Canon MP600 scanner features that were unusable starting with Win 7 because Canon didn't want to update the printer driver. I don't go online with it, however.

A "Legend" Reborn: Logitech Brings Back the MX518 Gaming Mouse

I haven't paid any attention to the mouse market in years. I still have three 518s that still work well as backup mice, but I've been using a G500s for the last several years. I hope it doesn't break anytime soon because I don't like what's out there out all in design or prices. My G500s is...

    Upgrading my Dell u2713h displays

There's some more details in the Q&A section including "This is a AUO Panel" I was considering that one if I was going 4k but I'm going Alienware ultra-wide...arrives tomorrow.

    Upgrading my Dell u2713h displays

I don't have it, but others have recommended a Monoprice monitor. I think there are two models, but this one lists in stock with good ratings and most of the features you're looking for: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27772

    1070 Card Sales at Newegg

I ordered a EVGA GTX 1070 Gaming Black Edition for my daughter on 12/21 for $334, and it arrived on 12/24 using super eggsaver free shipping and came with two games. It shipped from Indy and I'm near Columbus, but it beat the estimated arrival by two days.

Foxconn Will Drain Lake Michigan to Make LCD Screens

My guess is they will both put back about the same percentage, but that's hardly the point. The statement was 7 mgd was going to drain the lake, but just Cleveland uses over 30x that, and then there's Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc. I hope whatever pollutants they use are removed. But...

GPU advice for video and photo editing, non-gamer

The Quadro P600 is about $30 more than a 1050, and the P400 is about $30 less, both with 2GB. They may be better than a 1050 for your purposes.

Foxconn Will Drain Lake Michigan to Make LCD Screens

Agree. According to Cleveland's 2015 annual water report, Cleveland pumped an average 215 mgd from Lake Erie.

GPU advice for video and photo editing, non-gamer

I just built my daughter a photo editing workstation. I built it in ITX format with a Ryzen 1700, CoolerMaster Elite 130 case, 16 GB memory, and a Nvidia Quadro P1000 video card. I don't think the Quadro is needed just for photo editing, except that it does 10-bit to match the BenQ SW2700P...
