Upgrade 970 to 980 Ti for 1440p gaming?

I went from a 970 to a 980 for ~$100 (bought/sold used). Happy with performance in FO4 and BF4 (vram doesn't appear to be limiting), don't see myself upgrading anytime soon. Might be a good cheap option for you as well.

PC Shutting off under load - how to troubleshoot?

Thanks for the input+ideas guys, appreciate the responses. Will try to monitor temps while gaming later today. I assumed they were fine since I've OC/d with the same case/fans/cooler in the past and had significant room to OC. No OC at all atm - haven't touched settings since replacing the...

PC Shutting off under load - how to troubleshoot?

Hi all, Having an issue with my PC where after 2-3 hours of gaming (BF4) it'll shut off. Turns back on and runs fine. Haven't overclocked since upgrading and really just looking for a way in which I can monitor temps/voltages/etc. and log so I can see what's happening right before it shuts...

    970 G1 - 100% Power Limit Cap in Afterburner

Hi, I'm running a G1 GTX 970 with 352.84 driver on Win 10. Looking to OC but can't increase the Power Limit slider in afterburner (it shows max at 100). Afterburner 4.1.1. If anyone knows of a solution to this (or if it's not just my machine), please let me know. Thanks!

    CPU/Vid card

I'm in a similar position. Just upgraded to 1440p and my OCd 7950 isn't keeping up as much as I'd like it to. (Running a 3570k @ 4.2) I'm debating the upgrade to a 970/290x now (don't want to spend 980 money), but am leaning towards waiting for the 390 release. I have a feeling that used...

    Gf 760 or AMD 7950

consider a used card. I've bought my 3570K, 560ti, 7950, and mobo used here on the forum and have only great things to say about the members and deals!

    Gf 760 or AMD 7950

+1, love mine, beast OCer. Not all the MSI TF3 7950s use the 7970 PCBs (and sometimes there's no way to tell without checking the serial #), but the OC version they're shipping now seems to be the 7970 version (based on what people have been receiving). I bought one after using a 570 for a...

Would you object to a mainstream triple-slot video card?

Well that doesn't make much sense, does it? Low-end gaming cards can afford to be smaller because they utilize new tech but only need a fraction of the power/performance of the top-end cards, and generate less heat. As an aside, I used a triple-slot 560ti on a microATX board and it was...

Help me find a good GPU.

That's what I paid for mine used a month ago, running at 1215/1575 with low voltage/temps. If you're willing to spend a bit of time finding a proper clock, amazing value for money with this card. About a 15-20% bonus from OCing is a safe estimate.

Help me find a good GPU.

I picked up a very nice OCing 7950 (MSI TF with 7970 PCB) for a bit over $200, I imagine a pair of these would be about as much performance for the money as you could get, and price would be slightly better as people sell off their 7xxx series with the release of the newer cards.

asic is 87.8 As mentioned, I think my card may be a great candidate for liquid cooling, but I'm a practical OCer and have no plans to spend that sort of money on something short of a faster card...might make reselling it a bit easier though!

    [H] users 7950 Overclock Results

Really not experienced in the matter. Never bothered too much with memory due to low return/risk but might make sense in your case. That seems strange...I think at stock speeds my card gets up to around 60-65C. Rising temps (within normal operating limits) shouldn't lead to...

Nice! I'm going to keep mine stock (don't have plans for water in my system), possibly xfire if a pair would be more cost efficient than upgrading to a quicker single card (which may actually be the case with these!). To be honest I don't think much additional time/tweaking is gonna yield...
