Panasonic has had 20" 4k Plasmas some years ago already, but back then those were too expensive, also the IQ suffered, at least what I saw back then was not compelling, especially for a four digit figure asking price.
In any case the point is not about the small size of the plasma pixels but...
I've seen LG's, Samsungs Sonys and Panasonics OLED TVs, presentation wise, Panasonic and Sony were vastly superior to Samsung and LG, simply for being put in a dark Area at IFA 2013, so comparison is difficult.
I found LGs offering adequate, as stated before, the only thing hindering their use...
If LGs 4k OLEDs go down to 40~" we will have a computer monitor of sorts, though as of now I do also doubt they will put any effort in actually making computer displays, they never were making much money there.
Their 1080p OLEDs are already in the 2k price range, probably dropping further...
black crush, you can set this panel to have little to no black crush, the high contrast allows to do this without having to go to insane brightness levels.
i can only increment sharpness in counts of 4, and usually sharpness at 50 means pixel perfect matching. no blurring or ringing.looking...
it has no dvi, no displayport(not that i am liking that one much) also no user adjustable profiles, sharpness can not be set to perfectly match pixels(it is either 48 or 52), no vesa mounting,
stand is not height adjustable.
no hub of any kind, for the asking price it is not a particularly...
But it is possible that non-60hz@4K TVs surface with supposed HDMI 2 support, it is in the loose spec ...,
but I doubt Seiki will be the first to willfully deceive customers, PWM and Blacklevels and whatnot, yes, but not fake HDMI 2.0.
LEDs emit a spike of blue light, regardless of the color temperature, which is harmful for people with degenerative macula diseases.
Good old lightbulbs produce less of the high energy blue spectrum and thus effect the sensitive photoreceptor cells in susceptible people less.
There has been a 15" OLED from LG for a while, you could use that, resolution is low though.
Smartphones have just as much static content shown on screen as a PC.
Burn in isn't as much of an issue, or we'd notice legions of people crying their galaxy XY whatever has burn-in.
Maybe some...
Sorry, AMD won't include HDMI 2.0, this iteration at least.
They'll stick to old Displayport Stitching for their "4k", refusing the need for 600mhz RAMDACs, stingy.
Btw, I'm waiting for a real 4K@60fps+ output capable graphics card myself, without any stitching involved.
usually they markup the prices due to "electronics" letting consumers shell out 2k+ for "added features" of said tech. in essence you pay more for a scaler on top of of a mediocre panel.
Only 800:1 Contrast ratio, this sucks!
Wasn't IGZO supposedly cure-all for bad contrast and whatnot? Not much left of it now, bah!
What's the point of 10bit if brightest to darkest pixel doesn't differ that much, who knows how much backlight bleed and other failures creep up on this one.
I'm...
I had two bad displays, one from HP one from LG before getting my PA238Q, I'm safe to say all brands have DOA units, yours obviously falls into that category.
I'm not saying the PA238Q is a great screen, it lacks in some ui regards as well as backlight uniformity, but I've seen way worse to...
I've got a PA238Q, the purplish hue and some minor clouding are present, but only noticeable off a angle/when viewing a black screen.
If you want to drive several computers, the HDMI/DVI port can not be used for PbP/PiP simulateneously, ie only with another device connected to VGA(meh) or...
@Templeton Peck:
Prad review pointed out that the contrast at bearable brightness ratios is below 500, also sRGB coverage is at only 95~%, add to that the rather limited gamma and black level adjustments, the screen leaves quite a bit to be desired once you start to look for the issues...
