    IPS a fuss?

IPS is for viewing angles and slightly better (if any), color accuracy is decided by the LUT of the monitor, cheap monitors usually have 6 bit lut, if you go from a 6bit LUT monitor to another one, with the only difference being TN and IPS, you may not see much of a difference.

What's the matter with the display market these days[?]

I think it's because display technology moves slower than most markets. Our expectations rise faster than what manufacturer can come out with, and the perfect monitor simply does not exist. This trend may reset when OLED monitors come out.

What is your "dream monitor" right now?

no bigger than 23inch 1080p 10bit panel 14bit LUT 120hz or affordable OLED

Nvidia drivers won't let me use a 3D resolution higher than 1080p/24 over HDMI 2.0.

Have you considered using a DP to hdmi cable to your TV (if you are not using the hdmi for audio also)

Is panel quality dropping overal ?

I own the pa241w and checked out the pa272w in person out of curiosity awhile ago. Not sure if there is a blue bias as it was in a bright area, but the blacks are definitely better on the 272, the glow is real on the older models (i stare at it everyday, still a good monitor otherwise. IIRC...

Is panel quality dropping overal ?

Ya, I think the picture quality really has gone to shit, all about 4k/120hz.

Is panel quality dropping overal ?

Depends on what you are looking for really, for TN panels there have been improvements to the response time and reduction in flickering. I never thought they could market TN panels as "gaming monitors", that was genius. Progress have being made there. I believe IPS panels have been somewhat...

    Will an I7 2600 hold back a GTX980?

i looked it up a month ago before i bought my 970, SB is pcie 2.0 vs 3.0 on ivy or haswell, that will hold you back 4-8% on average on all games

    GTX 970 question

I got a G1 with a nice oc ceiling, that's the only reason i kept it. After about 2 weeks of consistent gaming/benchmarking, the whine went away. No guarantee that it'll happen, but it did for me. The chance of whine is definitely higher than the 5% the manufacturer's are claiming.

Question: How happy should you be with a display?

i still miss the u2411/u2711 they had back in the days, the later models has a lower LUT :(, though still pretty good are cheaper and more practical

Question: How happy should you be with a display?

depends on the driver, my fedex driver is really bad and i've had the same ups driver for 5 years and I haven't lost a UPS package Where did you buy the monitor from, I hope you don't lose money from this.

Asus STRIX 970 GTX died within a month

Honest question, so you'd look past how they used a lower quality PCB (in the case of the 9xx) and recycled heatsink design (wrong socket) just to get a better warranty? I've always been a fan of EVGA until i heard what they did with the 9xx.

Question: How happy should you be with a display?

Just gonna sum it up (this is only my thoughts), it comes down to pretty colors (you know what I'm talking about with your 245T, or a smooth picture, (120hz, 1ms, all that jazz), and pick one. if you still can't decide, take a look at the NEC PA322UHD-BK. I'm not saying buy that one, just know...
