    For gaming

Actually, no. The entire setup was fresh. A CPU can very well slow down a machine. I've coupled SSD's with P4's as well (for test purposes before selling old stuff) and have seen the same type of behavior, it was just way worse.

    For gaming

You make my head hurt. With a Corsair Force drive loaded on a rather crappy laptop with a Pentium Dual Core I've gotten significantly lower boot times than I did with the same drive loaded onto a Phenom X4 940 setup. Was using a RAID card, too. No other component could have been slowing...

So im joining the GTX980 club...

I have an U3014 as well as an U2713H, and they're indeed good panels but not really suited for gaming. They're wide-color gamut monitors designed for color usage, and the downside of it is higher input lag / ghosting. They have some backlight bleeding, too. As for drives, a pair of 850 Pro's...

    For gaming

Intel all the way. In the previous year I've built quite a few setups, all with Intel chips (i3, Pentium Dualie, 2700K etc.) excluding one I stuck in a Phenom X4 I had. Coupled all setups with SSD's and the only setup that didn't boot instantly, and got higher CPU usages in Windows alone was the...

    New setup advice

You can get four of these and RAID them with the controller you bought. http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX100-2-5-Inch-Internal-CT256MX100SSD1/dp/B00KFAGCWK I condone that would be about the biggest and the fastest you can get for that much. I'm not sure what you're trying to do though. The...

So im joining the GTX980 club...

For 2560x1440, yes, two 980's will mostly be overkill. I run a 980 and it whipped through most things at 2560x1600. Only a handful of games push a 980 at that res. For 4K though, which is what I'm currently running, it does get bogged down in certain titles. I just tested Crysis the other day...

    4k TV recommendations?

I wouldn't suggest using an UHD TV, especially a 60' one as a monitor. I'm using a 55' HU6900 at 4K right now and it's not only just way too big, but it also just doesn't work as well as my U3014 did. I'm debating whether to put the U3014 back on my table or not. The blacks in games just look...

    4K 60Hz 4:4:4 HDMI 2.0 TV Database

I own a 55' HU6900, and no 4:4:4, but it does work at 4096x2160 at 60hz at 4:2:2, and does an OK job, was a rather cheap UHD TV anyway, and I needed something of that caliber for my living room, which is why I bought it. Never liked it as much as my Panasonic plasma. Plugged to a reference 980...

Using a stack or more then one mousepad?

You can opt for the QCK Heavy or Mass, both of which are thicker and bigger than the regular QCK. I have both the two, using the bigger one in my primary with the smaller in the other machine. Just don't see the point in stacking up mouse pads when you can buy a giant mouse pad that is about...

    Logitech G502 Proetus too narrow

I own a G502 next to other high end mice and I can't use it because of the size of my hand. I have pretty big hands and my thumb finger keeps clicking the left side button, it just doesn't sit on the resting spot. Instead, it comes straight down onto the left side button. This forces me to keep...

GTX 780 SLI vs GTX 970 SLI

I bought a 980 to drive off an UHD TV after it's launch (which replaced 680's) and it is a great card, however, I wouldn't suggest it simply due to it's price. As for the 780, I wouldn't get near it simply due to it's inefficiency in GPU power compared to 900 series, and inefficiency in wattage...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 SLI 4K Video Card Review @ [H]

I bought a 980 a while ago to drive my Sammy 50 inch UHD TV via HDMI 2.0, which I also bought around the same time. It's a great GPU but performance wise, at 2560x1600, it performs exactly the same as my old 680 SLI setup in 3DM13 (both get 12000 points). But yes, with more vRAM, better...

Hitting 98° with stock i7-2600 watercooled

Corsair Link, as with any other software based solution, can be inaccurate. Hold the tubing with your hand and try to understand if there is liquid running through. Also, fasten the screws to make sure it's mounted as far as it goes. The Asetek AIO solutions have been known for pump deaths...

    24" UP2414Q IPS vs 28" 4K TN (vs 5k imac?)

What about a 34 inch panel?

    3x 30" 16:10 or 3x 34" 21:9

I own an U3014 and would NOT suggest going with the 30 incher route. Why? Because they're outdated, out done by newer panels, overpriced, with some of them (like the U3014 with the wide gamut) suffering from issues such as backlight bleeding, and so on. Go with the LG 34 inch monitors.
