Iam running 4 disk Raid 6 on Areca 1220, apparently i have degraded raid set and one disk is faulty according to online raid manager.
i bought a new disk to replace the faulty one but now that i have done so i put the faulty one in my desktop to see the issue, it looks like the disk is all fine...
alot got inputs here even if some went a little off target.
1. if i go with Esxi and virtualization then ill probably run 2-3 ssds to start with for the OS

Well the reason i go with Xeon is the ECC compatibility and the i7 3770 is the same price as Xeon 1150 e3-1230/1240, so there is no reason to choose consumer products when you can get "semi pro" stuff.
