i'm 'new' to pc monitors, i never really payed them much attention till very recently, and i was wondering if the manufactures release their monitors all at a certain time - like the TV industry - or if companies just release them whenever.
e.g. are new monitors typically announced at CES?
i do think that samsung will start selling an OLED TV next year, probably around spring time. but it will be $10,000, and word is that even with compensation technology the blues will burn out in only 4 years of normal use. they've already had an OLED tablet on the market since earlier this...
i got a GW2450 a few days ago and although ben q did get some things right, (the coating is great, the indicator light is on the side of the screen) i have to send it back. the biggest reason though is this; 1920 is just too wide for 'normal' computing. if you edit video or photos all day long...
i work on a computer all day (unfortunately!), lots of reading and writing etc., so i really need a monitor that is easy on the eyes and not fatiguing or straining. I just got a benq GW2450 and even though they have got some things right with it, there is this harshness to it, especially with...
i suspected this, even NEC and Eizo sell alot of TN panels now, and they claim 'full' 16.7m color support. and isn't dithering so good now that even people with a good eye cannot catch it?
short and sweet: are there any 1680x1050 monitors that do not use a TN panel?
and if not, are TN panels really that terrible or is this overblown?
eager to hear back!
OH, and I almost forgot; I mean real black level, not blacks when the backlight is dimmed. dynamic backlighting is too distracting and awful, I could never use it.
Hi, I'm new to LCD tech so I apologize if this is a bit of a noob question.
Which - if any - IPS screens can do really good blacks and don't suffer from that 'IPS glow'?
and it would be a bonus if it didn't have an AG coating that's like a frosted glass window!
and double bonus if it is...
again, can't thank you enough NCX
looks like i go with the GW2450 or just get an IPS...your thoughts/advice? and i should mention that i am too lazy and incompetent to calibrate, and i'm obviously not going to call out a pro calibrator for a little computer screen.
i assume both of them (the PT and PU) only cover 84% of the sRGB? that's pretty weak, even the new iphone covers the whole sRGB...so that's pretty much a deal-breaker for me
i can't seem to find how much of the sRGB this NEC EX231WP-BK covers, tftcentral said they assume it covers pretty much...
yeah and what makes it even more disappointing is that 'they' don't seem very eager to address the black problem with LCD's. it should be their #1 priority, but instead they are focusing on ultra-high DPI and extended gamuts and all kinds of other stuff that we don't really need.
OLED cannot...
what about the NEC EX231WP??? http://www.necdisplay.com/p/desktop-monitors/ex231wp-bk
i don't mind that it is more expensive than the Ben Q, and NEC is known for quality. I won't be gaming so input lag and low respone time isn't important to me, there is just so little info about this NEC, can...
