Just my random 2c, but have you considered a slimmer case with mounting space for a 240mm rad on the side similar to the m1?
Obviously that means no big window, but I agree with other folks that the mATX case space has been much more well developed and just being better looking and easier to...
I don't know how so many people here can deal with such small desks. I just bought a 63" galant, and I would have gone for a corner version if I had the room. With that being said, here is my current setup, minus the keyboard which is on its way. Im looking to get another monitor at some point...
Anyone know if a GPU Linux client is ever going to come out? I have a research box that doesnt get a lot of use and would love to fold in its spare time :).
anyone see this board? looks loaded for mini fs/htpc usage like this...
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article869-page1.html ...Has pci-ex1 too, which I prefer over pci. My main issue if heat concerns in a tiny case like that though, since space is effectively non-existant and even a low powered...
Well my thought was that with an exteral card, and me not needing serious HTPC power, atom would be fine, and run much cooler/quieter than any desktop chip. The atom board has really poor rear IO connections though (no gigabit ethernet), so thats another minus for it. It + a pci sata raid is...
I was going to go with one of the atom mobos + a dedicated raid card, but this seems like a much better solution (Ill lose the hot swapping of HDs, but will be cheaper and I could mod a tv tuner into that pci slot). I'll be wathcing this closely :)
I like this thread since im looking to do something similar, except with some sort of mini-ITX (maybe the jetway). However, my current thought is to use the atom board do keep things nice and cool (and low power) and then run a HW raid 5 card in the pci slot (something like one of these...
1. the core i7 physical socket is larger than a 775, if thats what you were wondering?
2. That mobo is almost certainly E-ATX. Im sure that there will be ATX x58 mobos though...
Not to discourage you, but a 4U rackmount that size is not only just as large as most full towers, but also HEAVY. I dont think you realize just how heavy. For comparison, a slightly larger 4U supermicro chassis is 49lbs....those things are thick steel. If you really want something to fit an...
