    Yes, Apple missed their chance...With Windows 7 comming soon on the heals of Vista failure, they should have sold MAC OS to us PC enthusiasts. I would surely purchase a flavor of MAC OS to run on my PC. Come on Apple.....sell just us the OS!!!! I do not want your overpriced hardware.

    I chose XP on this system, because I have a copy not being used. I have Vista on another DS3L, E7200 which runs great! I just did not want to spend the extra $$$ on another copy of Vista. Gas prices have consumed my extra $$$'s.:confused:

    I reinstalled XP. I first loaded the optimal settings in the BIOS, started from scratch, formatted HD. This time it performs as it should....very good performance on an e8400, 4GB RAM 8600GT.

    Motherboard recommendation

    I have a new build with a DS3L(rev 2.0) and a E8400. No BIOS flash out of the box. Go with a quality power supply and new memory DDR 800, this may limit your potential for problems. I went this route with no problems at all. the E8400 is a great CPU...if you can find one..
