    theres a lot of misinformation here, so heres the short and correct answer, no, you cant go between subnets without a layer 3 device to do the routing, and an interface in each subnet. your pc will use the subnet mask and see that the ip address is outside the subnet and without a default...

    you will have no issues, not in a puny home network with only 2 switches. no worries.
