Cloning two monitors at different refresh rates -- major VSync issue

This is the best wording yet to describe my issue -- exactly! By primary monitor, do you mean the one that has my start menu? It is currently set to the "clone source" and primary monitor in Windows. In fact, this is exactly what I was about to start working on. Unfortunately I had started to...

Cloning two monitors at different refresh rates -- major VSync issue

So it took me quite some time to track down what my issue was, example HERE: http://www.sendspace.com/file/h9ppml However just last night I had a breakthrough. Summary: When I clone my 120hz monitor with another monitor that is not 120hz, VSync is getting very confused. Basically, I will not...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Yeah. It's definitely an issue when cloning two monitors with different refresh rates. I think I'll make a new thread tomorrow since this has gone far off the rails from what I initially thought it was. Thanks for all the help.

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Okay, so this issue is only happening when I am cloning my primary monitor with my receiver. I think certain programs are reading the receiver as the primary display device, even though I have specifically set my ASUS to be the primary clone source. As soon as I turn off the clone, it works...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

As crazy as it is, after plugging the monitors all back in, it seems to be working properly. I'll update if anything changes. Kicking myself for not trying this earlier...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Major Breakthrough When I unplugged my other monitors, programs started behaving properly with VSync ON. I think my PC is somehow thinking that my primary monitor is not the ASUS. It did have a #2 next to it in my display properties, but I didn't think that mattered. Regardless, this...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

    Just ran some tests. Not sure how to interpret the output. Here it some of it: Frame, Time (ms) 1, 0.000 2, 18.036 3, 31.925 4, 52.763 5, 66.647 6, 80.539 7, 101.374 8, 115.263 9, 129.152 10, 149.985 11, 163.875 12...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

I have a total of 20ft of DVI-D cable. Might this be an issue? My desktop appears fine at 144hz.

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

More testing -- Using Crusader Kings 2. I loaded the game with VSync ON in NVIDIA CP, and set my in-game refresh rate to 60. No problems at all. I then set my refresh rate to 144, reloaded the game, and experienced the terrible mouse stutter, and FRAPS had an interesting output: The line...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Another shot in the dark -- would there be a chance that I'm experiencing a lag on my monitor, and not my PC? I'm thinking of this because FRAPS was reporting a constant framerate, but I was seeing a stagger. I am using an extension cord for my DVI-D cable, so I'm wondering if an issue like...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

So in doing some more testing.. With VSync OFF in a few applications I experience no mouse stutter at all. Then when testing using Metro Last Light, I feel like there is still a VERY slight mouse stagger still. Almost barely noticeable though. I just want to make sure we are on the right track...

    Sorry. I should have included them: Lynnfield i7 860 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel WD Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s ASUS VG248QE 144hz Monitor I did the "clean install" just...

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Since I'm starved for options, I will try this as soon as I get home as well. If my video sets off any switches, let me know. I'm dying for any ideas, I feel like there's definitely some issue on my PC, and still a little worried I might have a faulty component.

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Haha yeah edit fest indeed :p So you saw something similar happening on your GTX 670's before? Do you think if I used the custom BIOS you used it might fix my issues as well?

    Frame-rate jumpy, 120hz, microstutter?

Edit: As far as my temps, I am at a very healthy level in most of these programs. The programs I used to test with today, I wasn't even hitting 65C. I have overclocked however. I could try to completely drop my OC and see what happens, but I think I've done that before.
