For several months I ran an HTPC with a standalone card (8800GT I believe), and ended up stealing that card for my PC and installing a 780G motherboard. I couldn't notice a difference. Even 1080P video plays just fine. I believe the processor I am using is a 4850E.

I can definitely vouch for 780G, I've had a setup with that chip running for a couple of weeks now, and it's been great. Absolutely no problems with 1080P or any other kind of playback. The hardware I am using is an Asus M3A78 Pro motherboard with an AMD 4850E and 4GB of DDR2-800.
