Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Checking in as promised! Happy New Year to everyone in this thread! My last post was a couple of months back and I said I'd check in at the end of the year if I remained free of the psuedo-dead mboard syndrome and any cold boot problems--and I have been free of all such problems since my last...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Just checking in to say that all is still fine! Last post was Aug 13--today's is Oct 14...no "possum-playing-dead" problems with my x570 Aorus Master/3900X to report since I got rid of my old DP 1.4 cable--knock on wood! If I go through the end of the year with no problems I'll conclude that...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Got my new DP1.4 cable yesterday--and aside from a markedly better display I've noticed (it's like the color red just jumps out of the monitor, suddenly, and text seems clearer in some cases--colors, details, all better), there's no difference. System is booting fine--no cold boot issues--as...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

I always disable sleep completely, as well as hibernation. If you simply disable hibernation, then the Windows "fastboot" software options also disappear. I'm trying a new DP 1.4 cable to see if that corrects the problem.

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Hey guys, Just ordered a new DP cable...I am checking out this aspect: https://www.displayport.org/cables/how-to-choose-a-displayport-cable-and-not-get-a-bad-one/ Badly wired DP cables can actually cause boot failures and other problems, apparently--like lighted portions of the mobo that...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Yes, I think it's bios related. I say that only because what cold boot problems I was having disappeared completely with F20a, stayed gone through F20b, F20, and now F21. It was always strange because I didn't have any problems at all for ~nine months with my 3600X. The cold-boot problems and...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

That's it, exactly. I just decided to put another new one in since I have so many of them of now...;) Fingers crossed! I've hit GB Tech support with a detailed description, and if they provide a substantial answer of some kind I'll come back and share it. If I hadn't popped in a new battery...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Reporting in again... Well, after several weeks of flawless operation--no more cold boot problems at all--tonight after shutting the box down for a movie I came back to a totally dead motherboard! Oh, yeah. I had been running for weeks with ERP disabled--the bios default. This is the second...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

I've never used RGB and have no interest in RGB anywhere in my system. I use the CoolerMaster utility to turn off RGB for my 3900X Prism cooler as well. I still had the cold-boot problems I've detailed earlier in this thread, even so, and absolutely will not repeat a description of those...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

This looks like my final contribution to this thread. I'm delighted to report that F20a has completely and permanently ended the cold-boot bios-reset problem I was having with my 3900X & x570 Master! F20b continues the success! It's been many days since I had my last cold-boot bios-reset...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

I encountered another issue--such fun...;) 1) As I mentioned in previous posts, the cold-boot failure (reporting no boot drive available) I was having with my 3900X & Aorus x570 has not returned--not even once--since I replaced the (evidently faulty) pwr strip I had been using. So that's...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

I've used every bios since the one the mboard shipped with back last july 09, when I installed it, F3. On that date I also installed a 3600X. Never had a problem with all bioses--used every one--through F11/F12a/ to my current F12b.... Never had a single problem up to the installation of my...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Well, that's one thing I haven't had thus far, thankfully. So far, so good since the battery pull. The last time I had an "reboot in the middle of a game" problem was a couple of years back--different system of course--that was caused by the CPU overheating under load. In that case, a new...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

I'm skeptical of this being an "AMD problem". For one thing, when I researched the cold-boot problem, I was surprised to see how many Intel systems had been reported having cold-boot failures of various kinds--I think the earliest Intel post I saw was dated 2013. Second, I'd used AMD systems...

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

Sounds like a very likely explanation. I had thought that clearing CMOS (without battery removal) would have reset NVRAM, as well. Evidently not. What I cannot figure is the first eight months of flawless operation, even with the old/defective power strip--with the 3600X. Problems with...
