Hey, I thought I would share this snippet from my xorg.conf file (located in /etc/X11) in case any of you are running Linux (I'm running Ubuntu Edgy 6.10) and want to get full use out of your Westinghouse 37" monitor and are having trouble figuring out how. These options will give you...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Hello, Dam the deals keep getting better on this LCD. Makes you wanna get more of them! :-) I am posting back here because I finally had the opportunity to try out the HDMI port and it works brilliantly with my HDTV Cable Box -- beautiful HD picture! Also, I never heard the speakers...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

There's little point in waiting for HDMI 1.3 for this monitor. Because the monitor can only handle 16.7 million colors, it can't take advantage of the higher color depth + bandwidth offered with 1.3 and as for the audio update, that's only important for 7.1 users I believe...and most people...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Hey guys, Has anyone wall mounted their Westy 37"? I'm seriously considering wall mounting so I can spare even more desk space and push the monitor even further back... I'm looking for a good quality wall mount (flat or tilt) but at a reasonable price... Any suggestions? Thanks in...

Hey everyone, Dam I just checked this thread and see the deal going on at Crutchfield! Free White Glove shipping -- that's usually 100 bucks by itself! Total steal at 999/979 !! I paid >1200 w/free UPS shipping at NewEgg and thought that was a steal but this is a total blowout!! and...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Thanks W1retap! That's exactly what I wanted to know! So you have confirmed it! The 1.3 backward compatability is the issue after all! That's what I was thinking since I've been reading threads about certain things about 1.3 that might cause the issues if used with 1.2 or 1.1 hardware...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Hey W1retap and Political, Thanks for clearing things up. Good info. So Component only goes as high as 1080i due to the lack of HDCP support over component? Well good to know. Okay so if it's the monitor that's the problem guys, is it because the Westy is using HDMI v1.2 and the PS3 is...

Not sure if someone asked this previously but if you don't like black bars surrounding your correctly mapped 1:1 games in lower resolutions than 1920x1080, then use the "FILL MODE" to stretch your game to the full width of the screen. Have fun! -WaitAndSee

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Well I hope you're right W1retap. Thanks for the info. It does sound like a PS3 issue on the HDMI output only since the component output for 1080p is working fine supposedely. Also, I hear it could be an issue on that particular Samsung blu-ray player. Most likely Sony and Samsung will fix...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Hi guys, How you all doing? I was not going to camp out for frickin 3 days to get a PS3 even though I wanted one (mostly for the Blu-Ray player since they're still overpriced as stand alone's)... Anyways, did any of you try a blu-ray player or PS3 on the HDMI port of the Westy 37" W3 ...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

1920x1080 needs a single link DVI cable however DUAL link is backwards compatible and will work with all single link devices. Anyways, any decent quality DVI cable will work. As for your purple line on the left side. That is most likely due to your input source such as a bad HDTV signal...

Got my Westinghouse LVM-37W3 37" 1080p display today!

Yeah, you would need two of those DVI cables. DVI1 on the left side of monitor and DVI2 on the right side. What's cool is that because there is PIP, you should be able to see both sources at the same time and easily switch between them. Did I mention this display autosenses and autoswitches...

Basically if you are going to be buying this thing, I would not recommend using Analog cable or basically anything lower than 720p. Although games in lower resolutions still look decent, you will want to use the highest resolutions possible for everything and ideally the native resolution of...
