Just ordered my Dell UHD 24 Monitor UP2414Q

1080p full screen works fine in SST with nVidia in Win7 and Linux Mint, haven't bothered to try with MST since I don't game on my PC much, and 4k gaming works. I've played Diablo 3 and Deus Ex Director's Cut at full 4k resolution at very acceptable framerates and medium- to high settings (low...

This is incorrect, there is an sRGB preset: OSD Menu/Color Settings/Preset Modes/Color Space/sRGB. You can even set half of the screen in sRGB and other in ARGB for testing purposes by turning on Zonal Color Space under Color Settings.

I use 150% in both Win7 and Mint - Win7 maxes out at 150%. I tried 200% in Mint, and it was too big, so I elected for 150% there as well. I believe I used 125% with my previous 20.5" monitor, so YMMV. But the fact that the screen is 4k and very sharp means text is much crisper and easier to...

Here quick screens I grabbed in Windows 7 with Lightroom and Photoshop CC, and GIMP in Linux Mint 16. Lightroom is perfect with 4K. I have both Win7 and Mint set at 150% font size. Both GIMP and PS honor this in menus and popups, but icons are tinytiny, and using the software for any length...

Just ordered my Dell UHD 24 Monitor UP2414Q

Mine arrived on Friday, been playing around with it a bit during the weekend. 150% scaling in Linux Mint 16 and Win7 (max) is ok. It would be too small on a monitor with lower ppi, but the ridiculous ppi makes text much easier to read. MST support is spotty. Current nVidia drivers don't...

Pulled the trigger, along with i1Display Pro which enables hardware calibration, and hooking up my recently arrived MSI GTX 760. I saw the 32" version, spent half an hour looking at my photographs on it, jaw dropped. Way too big for a monitor for my workspace, and ppi will be even higher with...

That's right, and PS is pretty much the only software out there that supports 10 bit at all, AFAIK. I will be running PS in Win7. I'll take a closer look at GIMP on Linux when it comes with 16-bit editing, since I won't be moving to Adobe's cloud. 16-bit editing has been promised in 2.10...

Good point. After some research, since I don't do 3D or video editing, for my uses the only benefit a Quadro card would offer is 10-bit support in Windows, for a rather large price premium. Curiously, nVidia drivers disable 10-bit support in Photoshop (which uses OpenGL) in consumer cards...

Just ordered my Dell UHD 24 Monitor UP2414Q

What GPU would you recommend with this monitor in a single-GPU system? I see Titans and nVidia 660s in the thread, but I presume some are in SLI. I don't game much on my PC, nothing demanding on the GPU. I use Linux Mint and Windows 7, so my main concern would be solid support in both OSs...

Do not take it out of the box, or at least leave it in a plastic bag until it is at parity with ambient temperature. That way any condensation gathers on the box/bag, instead of on the monitor or its electronics.

Trigger pulled! Last-minute change was memory to Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x2x8GB due to much lower price compared to 4x8GB Ballistix Tactical package, and CPU cooler change to Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH Edition, since Dark Rock Advanced wasn't available at the retailer I was ordering from. Stock...

You are correct. The tweakers.net specs page incorrectly says they have BIOS only. Edited my previous post to correct this. No worries, thanks. I think an i5 is a safer bet with PS, as the i3-to-i5 performance jump is quite considerable in Photoshop based on 1155 socket CPUs. edit: OP...

It's even more expensive than the X-650 which also comes highly recommended, for a tiny improvement on performance according to jonnyguru review. But it does have a 7-year warranty... Tough call. I think you're spot on here. I mostly play games on my PS4 anyway. Thanks for this suggestion...

Some tweaks based on the feedback. Taking a closer look at PSUs, I considered Seasonic V700 which gets top scores and has a five-year warranty, but it looks like the fan will always run. At 117 EUR it's not cheap. X-650 80+ Gold V2 runs fanless at low power output, and also comes with a...

Never heard of any of those. I'll take a look to see if they have advantages over unRAID. I've had several Asus mobos and good experiences with them, but I'm not married to the brand. I'll take a look at the mobos you suggested! edit: Z77A-G43 only has Crossfire, no SLI, so that's out of the...
