    I can say the same exact thing. X2 3800 overclocked to 2600mhz. 8800gts 320mb. The game runs like balls. I ran timeshift in 1920x1080 with settings maxed just fine.... I betcha I was getting around 10-15 fps in nfsps.

    Chkdsk fixes this 90% of the time. I suggest you don't run it from a windows cd though. If you can get to a working computer with a burner, I suggest the base image of BARTpe. http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ It has all kinds of stuff for fixing a pc, including a more intuitive version of chkdsk.
