    I think that it did very well. You can watch h.264 1080p without GPU support! The h.264 is standard for compressing video and it is superior to mpeg2 it's other name is mpeg4 part 10 or mpeg4/AVC. Divx and Xvid are mpeg4 part2. For more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264/MPEG-4_AVC...

    Ok with AMD64 3000+ and Nvidia GF6200 turbo cash the playback of apple trailers 720p was like slide show after installing nvidia drivers version 91.31playback is possible but cpu is at 80% and some times 100% (this is 720p).So I'm sure there is some support.

    About the fan if you cant hear it and if it is blowing some air to the NB and VRM's then it is OK. Temps of 50C under load are more than OK. You shoud stay away from 70C. If the ambient temp is all ready hi then in the winter it will be better.
