Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
*nods* Aye. But now it's my favorite pointer error. =]
And about complaining to Valve, I'd love to but I've yet to go hunting for a contact that doesn't seem like a faceless VUG dropbox. I will next break. For now? Back to work.
Steam update and file validation didn't solve the crash. And again... might've made it worse. I couldn't even get past the load menu without it taking a dive.
I have in this thread (pretty sure anyway - yeah! Here ya go: http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1026880198&postcount=47), but it's no matter. I think I may have gotten it. I've not really played for long enough to know for sure but I had a save in Route Kanal that was a sure-fire crash...
Yeah, but that doesn't seem to work for everybody. I've defragged down to 1% or 0% without improvement. I'm going to try (right now) clean installs of chipset, video and audio drivers. 'Course I'm getting crashes instead of just the stutters, so maybe the only thing that will help here is a...
Exactly. I'm that way too. I usually even kill explorer when I'm really serious about peformance in a game. I've been known to use alt shells before *just* because I didn't feel like being arsed into having to stop explorer.
Steam? Exactly the wrong thing for resource-misers like me.
I get about the same idle (36MB or so). I've yet to check what its usage is during gameplay, but I've heard some people quote hundreds (by steam, not hl2.exe, mind you). I'll have to see it myself to believe it.
Yeah, I thought it might be that simple here, but after defragging there was no improvement. Actually it seemed worse after defragging but that's likely just coincidence.
Same symptoms as everyone else. Happens in the middle of the level. Audio will loop for a couple seconds, video will pause, windows cursor comes up over the targetting reticle and a couple seconds later I'm back at the desktop. The machine never locks up, only the game. If, during the audio...
