    HP SAS Expander Owner's Thread

Has anyone else run into problems shutting down win 7? I currently can't shut down until I power down the drive box (HP expander is then disconnected from controller)... windows just hangs "forever" (I haven't tested over night yet).

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

So I successfully flashed the 9212, via my HTPC (running an older chipset, ASUS P5Q or something), of course now the f/w is up to version P12 or 12.0.0.0 or whatever. There seems to be a problem with drivers though... Originally I believe I was running the windows server drivers, because I...

3TB GPT Drives "go RAW" Randomly in SAS Server

Which is why I bought an SAS2008 based controller, I just haven't been able to update the firmware past the 2TB only versions.

3TB GPT Drives "go RAW" Randomly in SAS Server

Yes, the key with my disks is that the 3TB drives never show up as 3TB unless I move them to the SATA controller for formatting. I thought it was OK since the 3TB showed up after it was formatted, but I guess it's very possible that they all died as soon as the 2TB mark was crossed.

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

I just flashed from 1850 to 2103. The BIOS was current as of June, and I didn't see any mention of EFI in the release notes since then, so I didn't consider it. After resetting I went back into the new BIOS and tried to "launch efi shell from filesystem device", but the same thing happens...

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

I'll look into the actual mobo BIOS, I hadn't tried that yet. By the way, you fellas recommend Supermicro jobs for media servers? I am definitely more interested in stability than any overclocking abilities...

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

By the way, in the BIOS exit menu there's an option "launch EFI shell", but it just says "Not Found" and does nothing.

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

In the F8 menu there's a UEFI option for several of the drives, as in UEFI USB drive rather than regular USB drive, but selecting them goes nowhere (straight to windows).

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

I've heard this, but I don't have one, or it's not obvious where it is. I was looking for it, and reading about it, but everyone only says "boot into EFI shell", never mentioning how this is done. There's no button to just go and do this.

Well if I could crap a supermicro right now I would...

How to flash LSI 9212-4I4E? (both my systems just can't)

I'm running a P8P67 in one machine and my other desktops are intel as well. My bro has an ATi chipset I believe, but in his PCI-E slot the POST and windows both report "no LSI devices found". FYI, apparently LSI's OS flash utilities are just for show, and the DOS version is "incompatible" with...

3TB GPT Drives "go RAW" Randomly in SAS Server

I'm hoping that since my SAS2008's firmware is at version 7 I should be able to fix it by flashing to 11 (LSI states that only 10 or better support 3TB, and it's confirmed by the fact that I have to move the drives to my SATA bus just to format the full 3TB in the first place) I just didn't...

3TB GPT Drives "go RAW" Randomly in SAS Server

About a month ago I replaced the SAS controller with this one (new cable as well): SAS 9212-4I4E Single 4PORT 6GB SATA+SAS PCIE 2.0 512MB And just now lost another 3TB format. I just realized the firmware might still be 7. something, so I'm flashing to 11.

3TB GPT Drives "go RAW" Randomly in SAS Server

Right, so if I replace it with a new one, one of those I linked on the egg, I should be fine? I don't give a damn about tossing the 3442, I just want my data secure. By the way, thanks guys.

    HP SAS Expander Owner's Thread

Hey I've been having chronic issues where my 3TB drives revert to RAW (about 3 different drives have done this) and I have to format, losing all data. I'm using my HP expander with Norco 4220 backplanes and an LSI 3442E-R controller which had firmware P20 (1.28.00.00 I believe) until today...
