I'm with you on that one, I'm still running my E6600 I bought on launch day. In my adventures with the chip its had a great life. I will be upgrading to bloomfeild at or near launch depending on the motherboards. Heres hoping ddr3 prices drop at least another $50 around launch. ^^

if you play games like Oblivion and have a crap load of texture mods the 1gb of video ram is very useful. theres also the Half Life 2 cinimatic mod that likes tons of memory for the improved textures.

For myself I use it only as a general idea for failure. If the SMART readings get under 50% fitness I will dump everything vital onto another hard drive and use it as a scratch disk or temp drive till it eventually dies. The more heat your hard drives are exposed to the faster they wear out...
