Obviously ? If I had any experience with this Eyefinity and the dongles, I would have known better and probably went with different monitors (if I thought that was the problem). I went with 3 x 3007WFP-HC's mainly due to their superior input lag stats over the 3008WFP ... plus, the 3007s were...
Just an update to my past responses - I originally bought my active displayport dongle from Dell.ca (see the item here: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Cables/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&cs=cadhs1&sku=330-5521). Like many others, I get bad flickering when using the displayport port on...
dcds1 - I had already tried increasing the PCIe power in the bios prior to picking up this card, had also bought a separate powered USB hub, neither worked. I'm at a loss about what to do - I have three of these damn ASUS 5870 cards. Tried 'chatting' with ASUS tech support and they're completely...
Just updating this thread after trying the suggestion mentioned below (page 6 of this thread). I just finished installing a powered PCIe USB 3.0 card shown here:
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=49251&vpn=GA-USB%203.0&manufacture=Gigabyte
... connected the internal 4 pin power, plugged...
matrix563 - the cables are actually 100' each (I wrote 50' but was only able to get 100' through the retailer I'm dealing with - they're Gefen dual link, capable of supporting this setup). I need them this long because the computer is several rooms away from my office/monitors. I put it far away...
First of all, thank you to HardOCP for addressing this issue - it is somewhat therapeutic to see that others are having the same issues. If it wasn't for Eyefinity, I would be all over a Nvidia card like a fat kid on a Smartie !
With that said, I am in the rather long process of building a...
Squalish - I never intended to use crossfire with FSX, I was actually going to disable it when playing that game. FSX works fine with one 5870, not the 5970. Where the crossfire comes in is with other games like Crysis.
As for the nf200 limitation - I'm starting to realize that now, thanks to...
Digital Viper -X- - I'm not quite sure what you mean. The board is supposed to have 7 x PCI-E Gen2 x16 slots. Check out the manufacturer site specs: http://ca.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=9ca8hJfGz483noLk&templete=2#
Squalish - As stated in my initial post, I do not want a 5970 - FSX doesn't work well with that card. As for the performance drop ? The board I got will run all three cards at 16x.
finalgt - I'm comfortable with my decision to use this 3Ware card setup. While the computer is for more than just FSX, I made my decision due the advice of "NickN" at one of the flight sim websites - he is THE person to talk to about FSX performance and is VERY adamant about using the hardware...
l3uLLDoZeR - If you honestly didn't mean anything with your tone, then I apologize. You have to admit though, insinuating that I didn't do any research before spending this amount of money, and suggesting it was senseless to buy the PSU that I did, while admitting to "ranting" ... one can only...
finalgt - I took his comments the way he presented them. He was being snotty, I simply returned the favor.
Regarding the 3Ware card - from what I've read and understand so far, the card will help to reduce the load on the cpu allowing it to concentrate on other tasks, my SSD will be quicker...
Abit667 - thanks for the response.
Roland00 - why are you referencing the 975 ? I don't have an issue with the 975 hence it not being questioned in my post. Yes the 920 is cheaper, but you make up for it when buying a decent watercooling setup. I have no experience with watercooling or its...
l3uLLDoZeR - nothing like making a new user on this board feel foolish for asking a question they thought was valid. It was NOT a joke, if you ever spent that much money on a computer, you might find that you're second guessing yourself no matter how much research you do. Mistakes do happen...
I'm building a new computer - all but one of my parts are in, I'm just waiting for a power supply which is on back order. The longer I wait for this PSU, the more I'm dwelling on the amount I spent.
I'm second guessing if it was overkill to buy three separate 5870 cards. My original thoughts...
