Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I was able to try a set of HD650's before, and they were pretty good as well, just much more expensive than the Audio Technicas mentioned above, without performing much better. As far as tube vs. solid state, it mostly depends on if you're going with just a headphone amp, or something driving...
Well, time for an update. I haven't looked at my system in a while, but the Thompdale site has all of the 5.1 schematics up, so I'll be jumping into things even more now. I'll be sure to post the progress, and possibly let others know where the trouble spots may be (although it seems I'm having...
1000 amps? heh. That'd be 12 kilowatts of power draw ;). As long as your power doesn't sag, or deviate too much from the needed spec you'd be fine. I'm ignorant, though, to the power requirement of that card. Maybe try it and see how things work?
Isn't the wattage rating on those continuous draw at 40C? At boot it won't be that hot internally, and you'd be having spikes, not continuous, so it should be plenty fine, especially if the drives are spinning up at different times.
Maybe something larger for a little reserve power? I've been a fan of the Silencer series from PC Power and Cooling and am using a 470 watt with my dinosaur (P4 2.4B and X800GTO....yes it's old but I'm poor and have to keep it going), along with several other builds (4) with one dead PSU among...
I'd guess the onboard won't be horrific. Maybe keep the XFi around and see how the new stuff fairs with the Klipsch setup? But you'll mostly be limited by the speakers. Still, they should provide enough clarity to hear the difference between onboard and XFi. I always say keep the card, and...
I have an early 90's Mackie 16 channel mixer...model 1604 I think. Excellent sound, and it's not too bad a price when new. Considering how long they last, I'd suggest looking at a used model, and you'll probably be able to get it for $100 or so.
New here, and I'm using some older stuff (Audigy 1 Platinum), but I've been very happy with Audio Technica ATH-M40fs. They've got a pretty broad range, and have a pretty flat response. Specs are: 40mm driver, 1.6 watts handling (plenty loud for me) with 5-28k hz. response. Maybe tweak the...
I was given a set of THX 5.1s a year ago. The guy didn't want to send them out to Klipsch for a repair, due to reading about the fixes usually not working well. A few things I noticed on looking at this amp: The MOSFETs on the BASH board are screwy. The sub ones are dead, and the satellite...
