24" S-IPS LCDs?
Disinfo. iMac 24" models (both old and new) have S-PVA panel. 23" Apple Cinema Display uses S-IPS though, and price went down months ago. However, given that 23" ACD has only 1 year warranty, plus there are several serious issues with those displays countless users are reporting, I'm not sure... -

Speaking of viruses, Windows, OS X etc., I'd like to add few things. First of all - yes, Macs / OS X are much better in terms of virus protection, it's practically impossible to get virus on OS X (at least for now), but if you use / setup your Windows correctly there very slim chance for virus...- umbolo

Yes, you're definitely loosing by using NEC 2690WUXi through VGA port. How much I can't really tell you, since it's not really easily "measurable", but you display picture won't be as goo as through DVI. As for solution - yes, there is a way to add DVI port to your laptop. There are PCMCIA... -

NEC 20WMGX2 or Dell 2007WFP?
Definitely NEC. Especially if you need better color. IMHO (and not just mine) NEC 20WGX2 is best 20" widescreen display currently on the market. For graphic design NEC 2090UXi would be even better choice (if you do a lot of color corrections / photo editing + retouching etc.), but it's more... -

Here's the deal - I have 2x1GB Super Talent 800MHz CL5 already in my rig, but recently ram prices fell really low, and now I can get same 2x1GB kit for around 100$ (which is exactly 3x lower than what I payed for my stick). I'm in Europe (and I'm not sure it'd fit my budget anyway). Regarding widescreens - as I already said - I use dual display setup, so WS is not imperative for me. Sure, it would be even better to have ws + second display, but I already have all the palettes on other screen, so it isn't a big... -

I didn't mentioned 30" ACD model anywhere. I slipped "2" in front of "3" while reffering to 23" ACD (I'll edit that now). Well, basically I'm interested in this - is paying ~500$ more for 2090UXi or 23" ACD over HP LP 2065 really justifiable, and if it is, which would be better option - NEC or... -

I'd say NEC 20WGX2. IMHO glossy screen isn't big deal at all, but it depends on your personal taste, and your working enviromenet, ambient lightning etc. -

Getting monitor with bigger dot-pitch / pixel size because of internet text readability is IMHO plain stupid (no offense here) - of all text on your screen Internet text is easiest to adjust - it only takes "Ctrl" + "+" to change it on fly (or you can define it in the options, or user style... -

It seems to me like NEC doesn't want to sell lot of displays in Europe. How can you explain this otherwise (well, I know you can explain it in different ways, but one wonders...). IMHO they did some really poor business decisions regarding Europe policies... -

Yes, but why they have different "Spectraview" strategy for displays sold in Europe and displays sold in US? I'm already familiar with that, and can't understand it. I'm in Europe and I appreciate NEC displays very much, I think they make some of the best displays currently on market, but why...
