If you play in Windowed mode you can use a program like DisplayFusion or Ultramon to span the window full screen across both monitors. Heck ATI's driver allows that too using HydraVision.. but i doubt it would allow full screen spanning...

The odd thing is that it also did this from USB drive... it makes me think it's with my hardware. More specifically gigabyte motherboards... it seems that Windows 7 seems to lag on Gigabyte mobo's or that's what my google-fu has led me to believe

I got this too with my system. Both the beta and RC, though the DVD drive just failed, though I want to rule that out because it seems that my drive failure was mechanical.. however, yeah I thought that was really annoying that nobody else gets the delayed inital dialog window.

If you are getting the error with the java download manager... Disable Java in Firefox and reload the page, it should begin to download with Firefox's Download Manager. To disable java: Tools > Options > Content > Uncheck 'Enable Java'

Have you tried unplugging the modem and seeing if that works. It might have been the modem that went up in smoke.

It's a burning engine for burning DVDs... if you have DVD Fab or another similar DVD Ripping program, than that's the most likely cause of the device showing up in the device management.
