Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I own 2 of these monitors, and never had a blackout.
My only annoyance is that the screen goes blue when there's no video signal through HDMI, so I turn them off.
I wouldn't call them the highest build quality ones around, as they sometimes have a buzz to them, but they've suited their...
All I can say is I have 2 Westy's and I'm ok with them. I bought them for $330 each, so I justified any flaw with their pricetag. I was primarily looking for real estate to work with. I also own a NEC 20WGX2 when I need quality viewing.
They serve their purpose well and were much cheaper than...
I bought an optical cable from radio shack. I then had to bring in my receiver for repairs as it was not taking the signal. Turns out, radio shack gave me a poor quality cable. The repair place gave me a quality cable, and voila!
I will never buy a cable from Radio Shack again. (I'm sure this...
The thicker the cable the better. Now when I say this, that does not mean that the image quality will be better with a digital signal. With digital, you either get the signal or you don't. But with a lower resistance (thicker cable), your CHANCES of signal degration are less than with a thinner...
I currently have 2x 24" ...and 1x 20" LCD screens. (the 24" for the real estate, but the 20" for better color accuracy S-IPS panel.)
If money was no object, I'd pick dual 30" displays. :P ...and then maybe a 37" Sharp Aquaos
For the video work I do, 2 displays min is preferable. I have...
Now that I think about it, that is surprising. Armed with the knowledge that a good portion of people, when all products are equal, will typically stick with the same brand name all their other components are - one would think Sony would be pushing an LCD geared for use with their Playstation 3...
My theory is that the manufacturers are feeling pressure or incentives from production studios to push HDMI, because of DRM, although I don't see why DRM couldn't be enforced on DVI as well.
I'm no expert, but as far as I understand it, they can only enforce the copy/view-protection over HDMI. That's one of the reasons why some home theater enthusiasts choose to use component and separate digital sound over HDMI - future proofing their pirated wares, lol.
Maybe newer hardware...
If you're going with a 64-bit OS and your primary use is AutoCAD 2008, you may want to looking into getting 8GB instead of 4GB considering the extremely cheap price of RAM right now. (useless for a 32bit OS)
I'm not familiar with AutoCAD, but I'm guessing you are. Applications like that may...
Maybe you can jury-rig something up with a piece of glass mounted to the monitor via velcro or something. I know they used to sell "tinted glass/anti-glare" filters for CRT's. Maybe they still sell them, and in that size? If not, maybe a custom made one?
I understand what some people are...
I have 2 of the same Westinghouse 24" monitors, and they both are set at 100% brightness for that exact reason - friggen noise when turned lower.
My 20" NEC is just fine at any setting.
I just assumed you get what you pay for....although I had more CRT's that whined at times than...
I do not know and am only guessing here: there is a clear liquid that hardens that bodyshop places use to fix cracks in windows. I imagine some sort of thing like that might work. Perhaps there is something similar at craft shops for repairing chipped glass?
Best Buy has or had some 24" BenQ's in Canada. Can't remember which versions (there's like 3 or so - make sure you get the right one. I believe the plain ol' "W" version - the original one, is considered the best).
Generally, no - the graphics on the 22" will not be as good as the 24". I...
