yes that is a very good upgrade and if you overclock the 7200 it will even better.

I have a extra copy of windows 3.1 you can have it will speed things up for ya.

I've owned 10 wolfdales from e8400,e3110, to e8500 and they all overclock to almost the same 24/7clocks. The only time really to buy a e8500 is if you have a 780I board with a lower fsb.

The gpus are just to large, complexed and costly won't happen. More likely is a 260x2

260 it's cheaper and everything from fan control to third party overclocking works. plus it will equal or surpass a 280 at stock when overclocked.
