I must admit I am kind of surprised that someone has not figured out some sort of DIY mod (even if risky or requiring a lot of skill) to muffle or supress the noise coming off of the inductors, given that this is such a popular and awesome card except for the coil whine issue. I had a GTX 275...
Hi I just have one question on this monitor. Is there much whining or squealing with the brightness turned down? Does it emit much noise? Thanks in advance..
Great review, Vega!
I would be very interested in hearing how it goes if you decide to remove the matte antiglare coating and apply a protective clear coating on the screen. I really like glossy screens as well for their extra brightness and clarity.
I know there are some people that have removed the AG on their monitors using a certain procedure where you dampen the AG for a few hours and then peel it off. I wonder if that would work on this monitor? I really don't like AG coatings, but it seems they all have them these days :(
I agree. I need something to replace my ASUS VG236HE which has a couple bright pixels now. I can temporarily cause them to go dark for about a week, then they're back. This panel has had a lot of issues with dead/bright pixels, otherwise it is a great 120hz monitor..esp. if you like glossy...
I have the ASUS VG236HE (same as VG236H but w/o 3D glasses), and I think it has excellent picture quality. The only problem with this model is the odds of getting a stuck pixel seems to be higher than with other LCDs. If you can go a month without any stuck pixels, you are probably ok. For a...
I'm going to chime in on this since I just bought an ASUS VG236HE to replace a 60hz LG 23" monitor. To me the difference between 60hz and 120hz is very noticeable, even just moving the mouse cursor on the windows desktop. I do believe some people are more sensitive to detecting changes in...
It's pretty typical for most LCDs that use a TN panel (as this LG does) to show that color shifting from top to bottom that you are noticing. I have the same LG LCD and notice that on mine as well. I've actually noticed it on many LCDs I've looked at, so it's normal and not a defect. However...
Yes, there is an option in the menu to turn off 1:1. It defaults to off from the factory. When I first booted up with the LG, my windows desktop (set to 1280x1024 from my old LCD) was stretched to fit the entire screen.
I just picked up a LG L227WTG-PF at best buy last night. It was on sale for $289.99. I have always dreaded purchasing a new monitor even going way back, as you never really know if you'll be happy with it until you get it home and all hooked up and adjusted, and I hate having to box it all up...
Well, I know large screens are the thing these days, but I had a 19" monitor that was dying and it seemed a 17" LCD was just about the same size, so I picked up an NEC 70GX2 LCD. It's 17" and it does seem just about the same screen size as my old monitor.
So far I am really impressed with...
I've had my evga 7900GT oc'd to 530/830 for 2 months and not a single issue. I just picked up an NEC 70GX2 LCD monitor to replace my dying Sony G420S and I am in gaming bliss!
