Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Did you have v-sync enabled? Do you know what your CPU usage was? If v-sync was off, GPU is 65-70%, and CPU is 70-80% like my SLI 660's and 4.5ghz 2500k were, you have a problem.
Hmm, perhaps I should bump mine up from 900 to 950. Are you 5870 guys overvolting your cards to reach that number? My 5870 at 900mhz has yet to go over 60C, so there seems to be some headroom.
The only straight comparison I have is with the 4850 and the X3 and X4 at medium detail and no AA. The interesting thing is the results were the same, but with the X3 @ 3.4Ghz setup, the X3 was the bottleneck, and with the X4 @ 3.6Ghz, the 4850 was the bottleneck. So the X3 720 @ 3.4 Ghz and a...
Are you referring to Catalyst A.I.? If so, I had it set to default which is "Standard". I am going to set it to "Advanced" to see if the claimed improvements are real. For some reason, I remember having to disable Catalyst A.I. at one point with the 4850.
Here are some results between the 5850 on the X3 720 @ 3.4 Ghz and the 5870 on the X4 945 at 3.6 Ghz. Yes, this isn't an extremely fair comparison due to having the 5850 for so little time, but numbers are numbers.
Medium Detail, 1xAA:
Improvements: 10% increase in minimum frames, 20%...
Just some quick and dirty impressions of the 5870 and X4 945 @ 3.6Ghz.
Played BC2: Vietnam for probably an hour tonight at 19x12 high detail, 4xAA, temps never went above 59C with fan set at 67%. Most of the time the frames were between 80-100fps, with it dropping into the 50's once or...
That's too bad. I popped in an X4 945 oc'ed to 3.6 and the 5870 should be here on Thursday, so even though we're running different resolutions, it'll be interesting to see.
It'd be great to see what kind of settings you'd need in BC2 to show a minimum of 60fps for each setup.
Kyle - My suggestion for you is to just keep turning the eye candy down until you get the frame rate you need since image quality is not a priority.
Check out this awesome feature with AMD x4 processors and a 5850 -
Very :unamused:. My CPU handles 10 minutes of prime95 (haven't had time to go longer), so I don't think it is due to an unstable overclock. GPU is completely stock. Bad gpu driver?
Edit: looks like my cream-of-the-crop...
I'll take a stab here and say you appear to be GPU limited with your settings since you aren't maxing all 4 cores. You can incrementally add more detail/AA to put more load on the GPU, and if your min/avg is the same, then your CPU is to blame. If adding a little more detail/AA reduces...
Going to do my best to keep this organized, but here comes a lot of graphs and data!
Installed a 5850 this evening and have been rerunning all my tests. I pitted the 5850 against the 4850 since the 460 was not working properly and wouldn't be a fair test for it. Here are the results and boy...
